THIS IS EXCITING! It is definitely not for someone who is scared of heights. Some turns are very tight. We got lucky to go on a non busy day and had most of the road to ourselves to kind of drive in the middle at times but if it wasn’t the case, I would’ve been very scared to drive up. Coming down was a breeze but wasn’t fun for the car. The brakes were definitely getting hot. But having said all this, I felt it was totally worth visiting at least once. The thrill of driving is amazing. It’s mostly safe as long as you are not speeding and being cautious. There are no guide rails but you just have to take your time and not get intimidated by others or situation. Once in a lifetime experience for sure!! Highly recommended!

I did this road back in 2011 on my motorcycle. I had a great time, which brought me back, this time with my wife but in our car. I was pleasantly surprised to see the road was paved all the way to the summit. I highly recommend as a must do in NH or make it a bucket list trip

The drive up was an experience! The views at the summit were amazing. It started to snow while we were there. Definitely recommend doing. They have a guided tour van option if you decide not to drive yourself. There is also a railway option as well.

Sadly due to sudden snowfall the Auto Road's Zone 3 & 4 were closed. We could only drive until zone 2. It was still an amazing experience. I definitely recommend it. And I plan to go back there to check out the summit

Awesome experience! Drive up was good, a little anxiety inducing 😬 Did the hike to the lakes, definitely not for beginners! Be sure to rest your brakes on the way down, it is very steep and long.

The roads were well maintained and plenty of parking spaces available at the summit. Few pull out spots along the way.

This is privately owned; so National Park pass won’t be accepted.

Beautiful drive and beautiful place. Really enjoyed the drive and also the park up there. There is no fee for going up to park. HOWEVER, i found the toll to be outrageously high. Per passenger car is 48$ and for each additional passenger is $25. So, for 4 people in our we paid 108$.

Always an amazing journey and living so close we can pick a perfect day to summit this beautiful and tallest mountain in the Northeast.
Not often this way as 70% of the time Mt. Washington is in the clouds!
We took the 2hr. tour with the van vs. The Cog Railway which is a little more expensive but worth doing once in a while with its steep grades and sweeping views as you chug slowly up the mountain.
The drivers of the vans are mostly retired and give great narratives of the history of the Auto Road dating back to 1860's and how the landscape and vegetation changes as you progress to the top.
All in all a must do for anyone who visits this beautiful region adorned with the most incredible sized mountains decorating this stunning landscape.
