Fascinating and fun bit of architecture. You can't go in the house but the exterior is really the eye-catching bit anyway.

The difference in the bottles shows which areas he worked on at different times and what was most available.

I first read about this in the 90s. I had no idea where this even was. Fast forward to last week, I find it purely by accident as I was going to the Goldwell outdoor museum in Beatty, Nevada. Turns out, the bottle house was just up the street! It's really fascinating to see & learn about Tom Kelly's life. You can't enter the house, but you can peek into the windows.
It was incredible to see that there were so many signatures of foreign nationalists who also signed the guest book outside.

This strange house was built in 1905 by Rhyolite inhabitant Tom Kelly, who used 50.000 bottles collected in the local saloons as construction material. One year later he raffled off the house, selling 5$ tickets to people who wanted to take part to the lottery: Bennett family won and lived there until 1914. The last person to stay in the house was Tommy Thompson, who lived there until 1969.

A great spot in this ghost town to stop and explore a very unique house. I mean, it's made of BOTTLES! Very cool, makes great photos, has a fun little "miniature town" and other items all around as well.
