Our random stop at this visitor center blew us away! 🤯It was more of a historical museum and education on the area than the typical bathrooms & maps visitor center. The murals on the walls were phenomenal!

The desk staff wasn’t very friendly, so plan to look around asking minimal questions. Even the gift shop lady had to be coaxed into a pleasant conversation. 🫤 Bathroom cleanliness needed some attention, but overall the place is very nice.

Thanks for the great information that gave us an introduction to Lake Superior and the area!

My Wife and I came in here on 2-17-24 around 12:45. We were coming to get a Veterans Lifetime Park Pass. The two Ladies at the entrance counter were just beyond helpful, it was great to get all of the Info they had to offer and we both really appreciative all of their help and recommendations. They quickly were able to help us get the Pass. Then we walked around not previously knowing all of the great things offered here. Would highly recommend checking this place out, kids will also love stopping in. Highly recommend.

Stopped in, while traveling.
The ladies at the desk were nice. Alot of science interests & animal, etc.
▪︎They offer a stamp at the front desk, if you keep a password book thing.
We didn't stay long, wasn't for us.
▪︎While there stopped in the gift shop, it is nice. Alot of things were not of interest for me.
The best thing there: for me personally were the flowers around the property out front. They had little black signs wuth there names. I thought was very cool.

This place is a gem! There is so much to do. There are interesting exhibits, a theater, an observation tower, and walking trails with cool boardwalks. Very family friendly. Staff are helpful and engaging. There are clean restrooms, a gift shop and plenty of parking. We always plan a (long) rest stop with this visitor's center in mind.

This is a really good visitor center. If you are going to Apostle Islands or the great lakes, its worth visiting here. We made a detour to go via here when heading south and it was well worth it. Love the tower and the views across the area. There are also a short walk from the visitor center around a lake.
Inside there are various displays across multiple floors. Comprehensive information about the area is available, plus the usual shop. There is a lot here and its one of the best visitor centers I have seen, and I have done over 150 National Park sites. I would certainly include this in your route, if you are driving up to Apostle Islands.
