Terrific stay at SGI this past week!
Heaven Garrett thank you for your prompt and friendly service... we stayed at "Hooked Up" and this vaca home lived up to its name.
Boat Dock, crabbing, fishing, kayaking ", hot tub and beautiful sunsets, and only minutes for the beach. We met a lot of great people, we now call friends. Just a few of the perks.

My family and I booked this location in August 2024 for 6 days in July 2025 on Airbnb. My father passed away and this trip was booked to spend time together as a family. In October the vendor emailed requesting we add a day and book a week as “somehow airbnb allowed us to book outside of the usual restrictions.” We politely declined and said we wanted to stay with our original dates. Time goes by with no reply so we think all is good. Fast forward to the week of November 10. We receive a message on the airbnb site stating the host wants us to call her. My sister (also on the booking) calls and the host states she emailed and called my husband (who booked the reservation on behalf of my mother) and he never replied. She stated to my sister that she even titled an email “CANCELLATION” to get his attention. The host goes on to say that airbnb had an error and also had the wrong price - it was hundreds less per night than it should be - so insisted we must pay more and then also add a day. Her story consisted of a short window the price discrepancy occurring (hours) however we checked the site days after booking and did not see the change. My sister told her she’d have my husband call her. My husband never got a “CANCELLATION” email or any voicemails. He only had received a confirmation, a request for an agreement to be signed and the original date change email. He then tries to call the host and she doesn’t answer so we call airbnb. They stated they would step in and talk to the host, try to get her to honor her original price and dates, and to only communicate over the application as that is policy and helps protect the host and guest. We message the host and then the lies continue. We tell her we want the original agreed days and price. She then tries to pressure us into canceling. She does this because if we cancel and not her she evades fines and penalties. She told us if she cancelled then we both had to pay fines so she suggested we cancel - airbnb confirmed that is not true we would not be fined. Airbnb told us if she canceled she is the only one subject to fines and penalties. She also stated Airbnb was telling her she should cancel which also was not the case they wanted her to honor her original agreement. In an attempt to prove she reached out to my husband via email she sent a screen shot of the messages she sent my husband which actually further proved she had not emailed him about the rate nor a message titled “CANCELLATION.” She stated that it was airbnbs fault that the rate was not right which obviously was untrue as, if that was the case she would be seeking money from them. She did offer a 10% discount but again this is her error and this should not cost us thousands more above our budget. She lied and twisted things stressing my entire family out. In the end she canceled on us and now we will have to scramble to find a comparable property to rent. My mother was really looking forward to the much needed get away and so were we.

Since you answered - I added my receipts. Yes you brought up another place which was not beach front with a pool, that is not the same. Thank you

Such a Great vacation rental company. Heaven and all her staff are always attentive and polite. The beautiful homes she hosts will not disappoint. Always clean with such breath taking views.

Our experience with this host was extremely frustrating, unprofessional, and conducted in bad faith. We strongly caution others against booking with them. Here is a detailed timeline of the issues we faced:

1. 08/18/24
> We booked the property through Airbnb and received confirmation, including dates and pricing.

2. 10/02/24
> The host contacted me via email (outside of Airbnb) claiming there were issues with the dates.
> I immediately responded, stating we wished to keep the original booking as confirmed.
> The host did not reply to my email.

3. 11/12/24
> The host sent an identical email to the one from 10/02/24 (again outside Airbnb), once again citing issues with the dates but providing no new information.

4. 11/13/24
> The host messaged us via Airbnb for the first time, asking for a call. A family member (included on the booking) called and was told by the host:
- The host claimed to have sent multiple emails (one allegedly titled CANCELLATION), though this was false. She only sent the emails outlined above, none of which referenced cancellation.
- The host also claimed to have left multiple voicemails (this was also false).
- For the first time, the host mentioned a pricing issue, claiming the rate was nearly double what we originally booked.

> I attempted to reach the host multiple times via phone but received no response.

> Concerned, I contacted Airbnb, who confirmed:
- All communication should occur via their platform, and the host should not have contacted us directly.
- No system glitch had occurred on Airbnb’s end.
- Hosts, not Airbnb, set the rates for their listings.
- Airbnb assured us they would do everything possible to resolve the issue and advised us not to cancel.

5. Subsequent Events
> The host repeatedly violated Airbnb’s policies by communicating outside the platform. They sent an email (again outside Airbnb) claiming they had 5+ alternative options for us, but only provided one option, which was not beachfront and therefore not comparable.
> The host then contacted my family member directly via phone (again outside Airbnb) and attempted to pressure us into accepting the alternative property.
> The host fabricated claims about Airbnb glitches and falsely framed a message to appear as if it were directly from Airbnb, stating penalties would apply to us if we did not cancel. Airbnb confirmed this was untrue and that penalties would only apply to the host if they canceled.
> The host used scare tactics, misleading language, and ultimatums to pressure us into canceling, rather than taking responsibility for their pricing or booking errors.

The host’s actions demonstrated a blatant disregard for the contract we agreed upon and a failure to act in good faith. They refused to honor the terms of our confirmed reservation and attempted to shift the burden of their mistakes onto us.

Ultimately, the host canceled our reservation after failing to provide a comparable alternative or uphold the agreement they made. This experience was unnecessarily stressful, riddled with bad faith actions, and completely unprofessional.

We do not recommend booking with this host or their management company, as their behavior showed a lack of integrity, transparency, and respect for both their guests and Airbnb’s policies.
