Great and clean to stay. Its in the parking lot of food lion and lots of eating option just walking distance. I also loved the way room was clean and comfortable. I would definitely recommend this place to stay. I will be staying here again when back in town.

I'm editing my review to say there is a yapping dog next door. It is midnight, he has been yapping for almost an hour now. It is the most annoying sound. I will definitely not be staying here in the future or would recommend to anyone. I'll also add that there was girls talking loudly in the hallway most of the night.

My husband requested to move to a new room after hearing the dog bark for an hour and the dog stops.

Save your money and drive to the next town over. My husband and I are traveling through to South Carolina. We worked all day and drove part of the way. We were too tired to keep driving. Unfortunately the other hotels in this town are booked for the night, otherwise we wouldn't have even thought to stay here. I didn't read reviews beforehand, my fault, I know, but THERE ARE ROACHES HERE. Like I said, we are too tired and there's nothing else available. The front desk lady was super helpful and friendly and offered to move us rooms, but if they're in our room, they're gonna be everywhere. We stay in different hotels daily and this is by far the worst. I'll make sure to read reviews next time.

The rooms are neat and clean. They have regular flooring no carpet which makes a big difference in cleanliness and the staff is very professional and friendly. The front desk was very helpful and checked me in swiftly and I also called ahead and got my reservation made without any problems. I will be staying there again in the near future.

We just left this hotel. Dec 1, 2025 at 6:30am. There were roaches crawling on the bed. Never ever had I stayed at a hotel and had roaches crawling on me in the bed until staying here. Wtf!

I’d like to start this review by saying I was reluctant to stay here after reading other reviews. However my experience here was not what others went through. I stayed here for 3 consecutive nights and I’m not sure if it was luck of the draw but my room was clean and didn’t smell of smoke (smoke free room 121 ) and the staff was friendly . I also had no sight of any bugs which was a relief . I would have given more stars if it weren’t for a few key things. 1.) the bedding , while it looked like it had been washed previously however it had stains on it which is discouraging I am moving to the area so this wasn’t a problem for me as I had my own blankets and pillows I could use I would suggest they invest in new bedding and throw out the old stained ones 2. The shower head and bath tub looked out dated and had mold on it so I didn’t use that , however the faucets looked new and clean so if you don’t mind washing up with the sink it isn’t that bad (the paper and stuff was from me the tub was mostly clean outside of those two circles just old )
House keeping came daily and swapped out the towels , trash , swept and mopped
The hotel is right next to a dollar general a grocery store , a gas station and a few fast food places so I walked there for food
the breakfast is pretty much just a corner in a room with a coffee machine , mini fridge stocked with yogurt and milk for the 2 choices of cereal and a few muffins
I will note the ac unit worked great , the tv seamed new as it still had that thin plastic film around the edges
During my stay it was quiet up until the last day I could hear the person above me talking and moving around . From what i observed there was no one just hanging around the parking lot

Overall if you’re in a pinch and need somewhere to sleep without all the fluff and stuff this place will be fine

I can’t guarantee it but it seems like the place may slowly renovating because I saw a bunch of old window style ac units thrown out and the sink and tv seam to be new in my room at least. There was also a chair in the lobby that had not been un boxed yet .

Please take my word and save yourself the misery and do NOT stay here. I travel all over the country for a living and this was one of the worst places i've ever stayed at. I had cockroaches and ants in my room (yes seriously), the floors are sticky & black with dirt, showers and bathrooms have mold and are not cleaned, pillow cases and towels have stains, and that's not even half of it. You will not be able to fall asleep or stay asleep due to the other residents that are yelling at all hours of the day/night. Nobody (including the staff) speaks English, and there are people panhandling in the parking lot asking for money and loitering. The worst part of the whole thing is that the non smoking rooms are on the top floor, and the smoking rooms are on the bottom floor. Guess where smoke goes... It rises straight up. My entire non smoking room was filled with smoke and not just tobacco smoke. It is like everyone in the hotel smokes weed in their rooms and in the hallways. It smelled like I was staying in a marijuana dispensary. I actually opted to stay the night in my truck so my eyes would quit burning from the smoke inside the building and my room. I called the front desk and he never addressed the issues. I will never return here, and I will take this to the highest level possible to ensure that nobody else goes through what I and many many other guests have went through. Just do NOT stay here.

I'm just finishing a week-long stay at the Super 8 in South Boston, VA. I'm amazed that Super 8 allows a hotel like this one to remain open in its current state. The facility is kept in a state of low maintenance and offers a shockingly poor price to services ratio. First, I was overcharged by a day before I even arrived and was only able to get the charge reversed because my credit card had not yet been debited. I knew I had chosen badly the moment I stepped out of my vehicle. The hotel's exterior is clearly run-down, which is not at all reflected by the optimistic advertised photos. The common areas are ok, except that the "breakfast room" is hardly more than a nook. The "included breakfast" consists of coffee, some tiny, very sugary, stone-heavy muffins, and 2 kinds of sugary corn flakes. And that's it! To add insult to injury, one day there was no milk for the cereal so I asked the front desk to bring some and they said "Sorry!" They couldn't be bothered to get more. So don't assume there'll be milk for your coffee or cereal if you stay here. Don't expect eggs and ham either. You may have to have your coffee black and eat your cereal dry. So ok, the building was a bit dilapidated, but I optimistically proceeded to my room. Ugh, the smell in the smoking-allowed room (the only one available at booking) was overpowering to the nose--a stale aroma of mould and chemical traces, that I can assure you, were not just from cigarettes and weed. Weed smoke was also to be inhaled in the hallways at times. Surely there's something the management could do about this!! Most days, I had to go to management and ask for a bottle of eucalyptus air freshener spray so I could bear the smell. As for room service, the cleaning staff were quite courteous and I was able to speak to them in Spanish to ask for the little favors, like "Please leave me some coffee packets this time" and "Please give the room a good spraying." (Yes, I had to ask in order to get the coffee, sugar, and creamer.") The cheap vinyl flooring in my room was cleaned daily, but had an oily residue that gummed up my socks. The room's telephone didn't work because the cable had been severed and left that way. The Wi-fi works intermittently and you have to keep logging in to stay online, but worse is that the digital security certificate is expired, making it very risky to connect to their internet using personal devices. Old room furnishings are dented and worn like the faux-wood furniture and doors. I've stayed in better 2-star hotels in Central and South America and for far less than the "$99)/night" advertised rate, which came out to $114/night when averaged out. By a different metric, hotels in Berlin, Germany for $60 night are far superior in every way, although a bit smaller. In summary, if you want milk in your coffee or your sugary breakfast cereal, then you might consider avoiding this Super 8. From experience, I know there are better alternatives in South Boston, VA.
