I was seen in the GI department yesterday. My nurse Dana was the best nurse I've ever had. I felt comfortable and well cared for the entire time. Dr. Garner performed both procedures. I was well-informed and comfortable. If I would give any suggestion it would be that the entrance to the out patient surgery check in could be cleaner.

Walked in and the first thing I was asked is 'put in your social' no hi, no what's wrong, nothing. I was there the other night for five hours. This was the absolute worst ER experience of my life. The staff were goofing off and cracking jokes while people are literally keeled over in pain and crying. The TV was loud and glitching/messed up.

Charging stations broken. Unsanitary wait room and triage area. Staff teams personal belongings spread out everywhere and in the way. When I was getting weighed I had to physically move someone's purse out of the way so I could step up. Barely any of the staff wore proper gloves or masks.

One girl took my blood and started to DIG AROUND in my arm. It hurt so bad I wanted to vomit. I'm not afraid of needles and have honestly never had difficulty with them until that point.

Toilet for a urine sample was filthy. One nurse with piercings and black hair pulled up was actively making fun of a patient who was crying in pain in front of me. You don't even get a private room and a bed. It's a curtain with a chair and barely 6 feet between you and another patient.

Putting this for the hospital, too: Horrible experience every time. They can't even hit the mark, let alone the standard, in patient care. The lack of communication and continuity of care is astounding. If you'll be there over the weekend, be sure to bring everything you need because the gift shops, coffee shop and cafeteria will be closed. The family lounge area is full of equipment, which is exactly what the sign says not to put there or maybe it says to put it there, I can't tell...so if you need a place to for a few minutes to yourself you're better off just going outside.

I was there recently last month (Jan. 14th) for medical care. It was a unique, but weird experience. A couple of nurses were pretty rude. One of them try to convince another nurse to give me anxiety medication, when I don't have anxiety and another one yelled at me because I asked about my blood work. It's the principle of being disrespected when it's not warranted. Glad I transferred to Missouri Baptist.

02/05/25 Absolutely the worst expierence I have ever had at any health facility. The ED was slammed and I get it. But waiting 8HOURS .. to be seen and told your Lupus is not an emergency after having a possible seizure is beyond me!! Giving someone a controlled substance via IV and sending them back out in the waiting room is wild. But then to come back out hours later and ask her if she ever got it because it was not charted was even more crazy and dangerous. I could literally go on and on about my jaw dropping incidents this evening. O0o and i was never seen after 8 hours a nurse comes out apologizes and lets me know ill be seen soon that he knows im the last to be seen they priortize their patients .. even the handful of drunk homeless was brought back 2 leaving hours later with officers... I DO NOT SUGGEST THIS HOSPITAL FOR ANYONE.. it's dirty ...ITS A NO FOR ME . NEVER AGAIN.

Update: 02/07/25 ... get a phone call from a 6182574882 number today asking how i was feeling and if I have checked in with my primary. 🤔" thank you for taking the time out to check in on me yes I have been seen elsewhere. Thank goodness due to my condition, I also have follow up procedures scheduled and on the medications that my body needed at that time. I will not ever be going back to your hospital I thank you and have a good day."
Wasn't aware ED follow up calls were a thing.Appreciated but considering the circumstances seemed odd.

I had major spine surgery at this facility. Absolutely some of the best care I’ve ever received in a hospital. The neurosurgeon was extremely knowledgeable and up front with everything I would experience during and after. Every single staff member was not only extremely friendly, helpful, and always there whenever you needed something. You could tell that they actually care about your health, wellbeing, and your opinions on how your treatment would be handled. I couldn’t imagine having the surgery anywhere else. And thank you to every single staff member at Belleville memorial. You have no idea how grateful I am for all of your kindness and help.

Definitely treated me faster than what I am used to. Only a couple of complaints. The triage nurse was very impersonal, she seemed to have an attitude about something. My second complaint was about the room that I got in the ER, there was blood and stains all over the floor and it just seemed dirty. I came in with a back injury and was there for about 3 1/2hours. Everything else was okay and most of the staff outside of the triage nurse were very pleasant, helpful, and informative. I feel like with that all being said there is room for improvement but I have seen way worse. Thank you guys for your help!

My elderly father had surgery there recently, and the surgical staff would periodically call my mother's cell phone with updates. We were in the surgical waiting room, and one of the receptionists turned on a game show on the big flat-screen TV. She turned it up so loud that we could hardly carry on a conversation, and when my mom's phone rang, my son turned the TV volume down so she could hear. The receptionist yelled at him to turn it back up, and he replied that he would in just a minute; she yelled again, even louder, for him to do it NOW. When he hesitated, she muttered something about calling security on us; my mom finished her call then, and my son turned the volume back up. She was incredibly rude, to the point of obnoxious; I started across the room to step out and make a call, and thinking that I was coming her way, she pulled off her name tag. People like her need to remember that the patients and their families are essentially their customers, and that were it not for the money that the hospital receives from us, she would lose her job.
