I recently stayed at the Downtown Dover Inn and had an excellent experience. The location is perfect, right in the heart of Dover, making it easy to explore the local shops, restaurants, and attractions. The room was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, providing a cozy atmosphere for a relaxing stay. The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating, always ready to assist with any requests or questions. So first we booked a double room (for 4)thru booking.com. Get to the room it’s a single bed. Guy behind desk claims it’s not his fault so blamed booking.com. After hours on phone with booking nothing was done. Take a shower and a hole in ceiling, vents are all rusted, no heat and elec box behind door is all rusty and broken. Pool is outside our door, loud all night long with doors slamming, think the motel homeless program is going on here and says breakfest is available, cereal and toast is all you get. We literally had to spend an extra $300 to get extra blankets and air mattresses because no solution was ever fixed. Will never stay here again. We travel a lot and this is one of the worst experiences we have ever had. Not only do the rooms stunk but every single person in our group woke up with runny and stuffy noses and wouldn’t surprise me if there was mold in these rooms. Seems like water damage in corners of the rooms. Anyone giving this place 5 stars must be an owner trying to keep the ratings higher than they should be. WILL NOT EVER BOOK A PLACE WITHOUT LOOKING AT GOOGLE REVIEWS FIRST. WHAT A HUGE MISTAKE THIS WAS

OH MY GOD.....WHAT THE HECK DID I DO? Never again will I stay here. First with check in they asked me for a credit card that was not mine? Then we got to the room to a horrible smell. ( we bought air freshners) The carpets were stained bad the walls had holes and had been drawn on. The sheets and towels were stained and nasty. There were people living there fighting. We stayed 2 nights the first night 4am someone knocked at our door we looked nobody there. I had my boyfriend and our 5 year old son with us. Lucky we were only there to sleep. I booked to have a pool bit nope that was under construction which it looked fine sonI don't know. The breakfast was a joke so we did not eat there. We stayed with the big storm and left for the day came back and they had not plowed we almost got stuck trying to back into a spot. I was very very very upset with this stay. Also the last night there were 2 workers breaking into rhe room next door when the people would not answer the door. GIVE THIS A BIG 0 RAITING. Not recommended for anyone.

The only good thing about this place is the location. I booked through Priceline and the room was non refundable. I booked it specifically to use the pool with my grandson as part of his birthday present. Turns out the day we checked in, pool was closed for maintenance. Even though the pool looked as though it had been closed a lot longer than that. Turned the temp of the room up to 75 and it was still freezing. Had to wear shoes to walk on the bathroom floor because it was so cold it hurt. Breakfast was a joke. Supposed to be served 7-10, get down there at 8:45 and all that's there to eat are 3 hard bagels and some bread for toast. Guess we should be ecstatic that they gave us a poolside room to admire the pool we couldn't use. Wish I could give this zero stars.

I travel about 50 times per year with my job and have stayed at this hotel in the past and never will again! It was so dirty. Rugs were stained, the rooms smelled really bad. We had to switch rooms 3 times as each room was gross but couldn't change hotels as were late for a gathering. Each room had hairs on the floors and dust on vanities. The 3rd room we were showed had no smoke detector. The new owners have let this place go terrible! Many rooms are housing local underprivileged persons which was intimidating as we saw windows with pumpkins and plants in windows. I question how much longer their door locks will work as they seemed ancient. Go anywhere else.

After booking on Expedia, when I got to the hotel, they told me I had to cancel my booking on Expedia and book through them, and Expedia would refund me for the booking that I had on there. I then paid them directly for my room. After not getting a refund from Expedia, I contacted both and Expedia had to get an approval from the hotel to refund me which they denied over and over again. The room smelt like someone’s shit under the bed and it was about 95° in the room during the winter time so we wanted to turn the AC on but the AC was broken. If we had been able to drive home that night, we 100% would have driven home. They ended up bringing a fan into our room in the back of the fan was tied together with a plastic bag because it was falling apart. The breakfast was only cereal and not enough orange juice for three people.

Positive: Only the location Negative: The sketchy and noisy people hanging right outside my door and in the parking lot. Was truly frightened staying there on my own. People shouting and banging on the door next to my room was also frightening. Never again will I stay there.

This was by far one of the most disgusting places I have ever stayed. They did a wonderful job at picking photos of maybe one or two decently clean rooms for the website. The minute I walked into the room I felt uncomfortable. Disgusting floors, the walls had holes and nasty smears on them. I got locked out of my room when going to my car for something I forgot. Key card stopped working with all my belongings inside. Had to go to the desk for help to get back in. The bathroom mirror had whoever last brushed their teeth on it. The ceiling was scary in the bathroom. Nothing has been dusted or really cleaned in a long time. The door bottom was coming apart. There was a lot of activity outside of my room all night. I felt sincerely unsafe and unclean. I couldn’t bring myself to use the shower or walk around without shoes on. If I wasn’t forced to stay this way due to work I would have just dealt with the 4 hour drive. When I asked the guy at the counter at check out if I could get a partial refund, he seemed to blame me for not asking for another room. When I said that I didn’t feel any of the other rooms would have been better (which I should not have to ask for another room to begin with), he just said he would pass it on to his manager which I doubt he will. He couldn’t even manage to put his phone down or hang up the call he was on to speak with me. Not worth th $200 I paid.
