Everything is for show. We reserved a 2 bedroom suite. It was supposed to have a room with 2 queen beds and a room with a king and a full kitchen. The day before I get a call saying the room had been damaged and they needed to get us another room but they couldn't get us the same room. I didn't blame them for damage happening. Guests will damage rooms. But they didn't make it right for us and, apparently we wouldn't have had what we experienced to begin with.

I blame them for not having rooms properly set up.

They offered me two king rooms but they weren't adjoining. Naively I assumed their couches were sofa couches because I've never stayed in a hotel with suites that didn't have sofa couches and I had reserved 3 beds so I assumed they were giving us enough space to sleep 6.

I was wrong.

We got checked in and figured out it was a regular couch. We also found that neither room had any dishes. When I asked for dishes he said he would try to get some and later when we came back from dinner he said he gave me everything they had. There were 0 spoons and only 2 bowls.

Again, I've stayed in a lot of suites and they've always had dishes. But that wasn't all that was just for show. Nothing in the fitness center was working. Neither phone worked in the room. Eventually I found where one room's phone was supposed to be plugged in but I couldn't get the other room's phone to work.

And the toilets didn't work. In one room they were clogged and they "fixed" them and were immediately clogged. But they also just ran constantly and you had to open the tank and push the flap closed.

I would never recommend anyone stay here.

I could nitpick every little thing, but I'll stick with the big issues.

1. The outdated TV with almost no channels. I stayed at a best western in Maine that had a smart TV with every channel listed and Netflix. There's no reason they shouldn't have that here. This hotel didn't even have HALF the channels available that they listed on their little channel guide. I stay at hotels to get away from my terrible life. It shouldn't continue to be terrible on my vacation. All I had was a shitty hospital remote and like 5 channels.
2. The bathrooms. The bathrooms are disgusting, there is NO ventilation (which how do you not vent a room with that much moisture?) the wallpaper is falling off the walls, and the shower SQUEALS super loud and you can't control the temperature. It's constantly switching from scorching hot to freezing cold without even touching it.
3. House keeping never came to my room. They came at the Maine location. They didn't come here yet they leave a little envelope begging for tips because they refuse to pay their staff a living wage.
4. The gym is horrible. They have all old, ratty, dangerous equipment and have the audacity to ask for opinions. Yea. Get some equipment you didn't pick up off the side of the highway.
5. Room safety. There is a patio door, off the tracks, to a 3 foot drop, held shut with an old broom handle. They're ASKING for a kid to get hurt and a huge law suit. If they can afford to remove all the 1st floor patios they can afford to frame in walls where the doors are.
6. I needed a late checkout because I have kids. Late checkout is typically 2 hours after checkout. They gave me an hour. The ridiculous "reduced" price I paid for this joke of a room should have bought me an extra night let alone a measly hour.
7. Don't use the pool. Just don't. Unless you like mold.

We took a trip down to Portsmouth last week, and found a real hidden gem in this Best Western. Cindy, the staff member at the front desk, was friendly and responsive and went out of her way multiple times to make our stay more pleasurable. She took the time to show us rooms in two different parts of the hotel to assure that we would enjoy our room and our stay the more for it. A really terrific worker and a hotel that's better off for having her!

The entire staff that we met were polite, friendly and cordial. Shoutout to Bobby, who was also knowledgeable and helpful. I would be remiss not to mention the efforts of the housekeeping staff, who have done an excellent job keeping the rooms and common areas looking good. We enjoyed our night out at the Best Western so much that we added another night to our stay!

Super friendly staff, no complaints there. Dirty room, not vacuumed, trash on the floor. Water took about 30 minutes to get warm, never got hot. Ceiling was leaking with pieces of the ceiling all over when we woke up. Fire alarms go off at random times.

My boyfriend booked 2 nights here (for quite a lot of money) and we were in utter disbelief in how terrible this “hotel” was. The rooms were in awful and disgusting condition.
-peeling wallpaper
-bodily fluid stains on the couch
-outdated and ripped apart furniture
-mold in the coffee pot
-mold marks on the bathroom ceiling
-rusty nails in the bathroom (on the toilet)
-yellow water in the shower
-water wouldn’t warm up or drain
The environment was horrific and unwelcoming
-ripped apart ceilings in the hallways that had water dripping down
-pool was cold and definitely hadn’t been cleaned in months
-gym equipment was rusty, unsafe, and broken

To make matters worse, we were woken up at 3AM on our first night to a guest across the hall from us who was on drugs and was undergoing a bad trip. He was screaming and throwing hotel furniture. The cops had to show up due to the situation. This is not a safe or family friendly hotel to go to. I will never ever be coming back here or to any Best Western. We ended up going to the Residence Inn in Portsmouth, NH afterwards. We only paid a couple bucks more and had an amazing experience there. Best Western, you should be ashamed of yourselves.

Super nice host, and cleaning staff, but the TV remote barely works, was unable to change imput or use half of the buttons. super outdated system, only cable, no youtube/roku and u cant opt to use one because the remote is broken. Fridge is actually a freezer and will freeze all leftovers/drinks. No continental breakfast included. Check out is slated for 11am and leaving our room at 9:57, we were locked out snd had to go to the front desk for them to activate our room card again. 1 hour before check out!
