The location is absolutely perfect. There is a little bit of a musty smell in the lobby and it seems like a renovation would do this property well. The desk staff were friendly and attentive. Our room was clean and spacious. Keep in mind that if you have a lot of bags and get put on the 2nd floor, you will have to carry your bags up the stairs, no elevator. The price was very reasonable. We were disappointed with breakfast unfortunately. They had a good variety but something just seemed off with the food. The set up was odd going in as well as you had to follow caution tape that lead you into a different room. This could be a great property with a total renovation.

Room was clean but had a really weird smell so we slept with the windows open which helped but it still smelled funny by the time we left. King bed was comfy. Breakfast was decent, good variety to pick from. Staff nice and helpful. Fitness room was clean and has enough equipment to get a decent workout

Positive: The room was very clean. The location was great too! Negative: The room was extremely hot, 76 degrees! We tried to turn the thermostat down, but it was already set to 56. The front desk gave us a fan and extention cord, but it only helped a little.

This hotel was a fine experience for where it was and what options were available. The location is fantastic, right next to the harbor and perfect for photos, views, and walking around. The dinner at the restaurant was delicious. I wish I could come regularly for that blackened halibut. Breakfast is also included in your stay, and it’s fine for what it is. Just tastes like every other decent hotel breakfast. People are expecting something fancy and luxury… we are in Alaska, not even in the main city lol. Chill out. You come here for the other experiences that surround this hotel.

This place was downright horrible. Our room smelled like urine. You know management is aware of the smell issue as our window was open and it was not a warm day. They also left the back hall door propped open as the hallways reek also. That made me feel real safe. There are not many options in Valdez so I understand how they get business. I felt sorry for the people on the tour bus. I felt sorry for all that stayed there. They have a restaurant attached and that also had a horrific odor. If you stay here you are paying too much for a complete dump. Probably the worst hotel I have ever stayed at.

Great staff, willing to help in any way they can. Beds are a little more firm than my liking but the overall experience was great. Youbare right on the harbour, the restaurant had great food and great staff for the hostess and the servers. Highly recommend thus hotel if you are visiting.

The best location in the town and the glacier view is awesome.

Room is a bit dated: not good design on the shower water temperature control, and the hair dryer is old. Everything else in the room makes it comfortable.

Staff are super friendly and helpful. They nicely have an airport shuttle.

Breakfast is so so. You can get food before 8am but less remaining afterward.

Best Western Valdez Harbor Inn sits on a nice property. Some rooms are adjacent to the Coast Guard Operations Center. So it can be rather noisy in the morning as the Coast Guard tests their radios, and sirens. However, it was not that noticeable when we stayed. It might bother some light sleepers. The hotel itself is nice. It is rather dated and in need of updating. Who needs a wake-up call these days with the advent of the smartphone. The provided breakfast was adequate, but not anything special. Parking is free, and they do have pet rooms. Thermostat control was not great.
