Very recommendable, but only if you are a good mountain walker and not anxious walking on ice or on a swaying swimming bridge. You get shoe spikes and a helmet. You can only access the glacier with a guided tour that costs 150 dollars per person. Our tour took 2 and a half hours and we learned a lot from our guide. The tour guide also helps you when it gets steep and you don't know where to make your next step or you have to step over a crevasse. It was really worth the money.

Undoubtedly this is one of the best things I have done in my life. If you are in anchorage i definitely recommend adding this activity to your list. $150 per person but definitely worth every penny. The $150 includes microspikes, helmet, parking, gate fee and a guide who has in depth knowledge about the glaciers. The guide is very important since they help us not to step on the wrong place.
The drive is about 2 hours make sure to fill up the gas and carry snacks / food since the place is little remote to find any food / stores.

Definitely recommend once in a life time experience.

Excellent tour. Worth the money. The guide was so knowledgeable, took his time and kept us safe. He gave great instruction on walking with ice cleats so that we didn’t fall. The vistas and experience was incredible.

Excellent experience for the family. Our guide was named Cable and she was amazing. This was an easy hike for a 52 year old fat guy. The guide walks at your pace and is very easy going and makes you feel very comfortable on the ice. Huge veteran discount so make sure you let them know if you are a veteran.

We had a great time hiking on the glacier with Bailey, our wonderful guide. Bailey is very experienced with coaching people on outdoor activities. She is friendly, patient, and kind. The glacier is pretty awesome. I felt like being on a new planet when I was hiking there. The hiking is not particularly dangerous if you are careful enough. I highly recommend this activity. It truly is a life-time experience.

Our tour guide Emily was amazing. Very knowledgeable and informative. She taught us so much about glaciers, pointing out different examples of different formations during the walk. Gave everyone plenty of time to take pretty photos. Got to drink some glacier water and put on some glacier mud mask. I find the tour on the more expensive side, but I think it was worth it if you’ve never walked on a glacier before. Very unique experience for us, and I wouldn’t walk onto any glacier without an experience guide.

The tour was fantastic! We had a great time, even bringing our 2 year old and 4 month old along! The kids stayed in their carriers a majority of the time but our 2 year old got out to walk towards the end! All the staff are super friendly and knowledgeable, and the glacier was just amazing!

Kate was a great tour guide for my sister, dad, and I. Although she was rather new to the job she still knew quite a bit and made sure we stayed safe throughout our tour. You could tell she loved what she did! We had lots of laughs with her guiding us! The sights were beautiful and we loved being able to explore the glacier!
