Hiking with Huskies was a great experience! We were able to meet the dogs and choose who would hike with us. We were instructed on how to harness ourselves and our dog and then take off up the mountain side. It was a fast paced Beautiful hike made so much more fun with the addition of the dogs. Our guide Nicole was very informative, happy to answer any questions we had and baked great cookies for our treat. I would definitely do it again!

I was looking for a fun sled dog experience but without enough snow our options seemed limited. I’m so glad I found the Hike with a Husky with Arctic Dog Adventure Co! My husband and I got to meet all the dogs, picked the one we wanted, and hiked attached to their leads through a beautiful trail. Our guide, Ryan was fantastic! We learned a lot about sled dogs and had an overall amazing experience! I definitely recommend this hike either with or without snow (we had about 6 inches).

Authentic Alaska Husky Experience

It’s difficult to find the words on how meaningful this Husky Hike was for our group of four.
We were ending a land & sea NCL cruise tour. We had a great time and booked 12+ excursions through the Norwegian and enjoyed every one.
We found the Artic Dog through Google. We all love hiking and 3 of us are animal lovers. (My husband is animal-neutral.) After reading the reviews about Lisbet and her dogs, we had to book.
It had been raining all morning so it was muddy when we arrived. We had on hiking boots and clothes we weren’t concerned about getting dirty. Glad we took the website advice on this because I wanted to pet ALL the dogs and ended up slipping down a small hill of mud when jumping over a puddle. (Nothing hurt, just a solid start to a great hike!)
We met as many dogs as we wanted to select one as our hiking partner. It seemed impossible to pick. Each one was so friendly…but then there was Bitey. ? (playful biter as a puppy) He ran the Iditarod years earlier. He was strong, sweet and quickly matched my pace when it changed from a jog to a walk. We all found perfect connections.
A leash belt goes around your waist that’s easy to adjust for an even pull. Trust your dog and let them pull you. It’s great to be in sync with them.
When we reached a clearing at the top, there was a beautiful open view. Even on this cloudy day, the view was amazing. We all took a break. Lisbet had a choice of hot cocoa, cider or coffee for us. She also made delicious gluten free oatmeal cookies to accommodate my diet.
Lisbet has been in Alaska all her life and loves the land, the people and her huskies. It was so interesting hearing different elements of her life and the history of Alaska as it relates to the land, education, huskies and living off-grid. She’s genuine. It was like we always knew her.
The guide-in-training, Nicole, knew so much about the individual dogs. She didn’t miss a beat and we were her first hike.
This was the highlight of our 2 weeks in Alaska. It was the least touristy thing we did. Lisbet made it an authentic Alaskan experience for us. It helps that I fell hard for Bitey too. 🙂
Do this - you will be so happy you did!

Enjoyed a fantastic sled dog hike with Arctic Dog Adventure, guided by Lisbet and her team! Coming from the lower 48 and initially lacking in sled dog operations, I was amazed by the intricate workings of running a kennel and molding a championship team. This unforgettable hike was filled with excitement and breathtaking views, making it a highly recommended choice for those looking for a summer Arctic adventure!

We had the most amazing 3 day adventure in the White Mountain National Recreational Area with Arctic Dog Adventure Company. This trip was extremely well organized, specifically safety in extreme temperatures was paramount. Lisbet and Nils didn’t leave anything to chance! We were provided with a complete packing lists that included your normal cold weather gear plus a head lamp. Expedition weight outerwear including boots, gloves and mittens were provided. At regular intervals Lisbet would ask toes and fingers okay? Then we would pull what we needed from our sled to assure our fingers / toes were good. We would stop to check the dogs feet for snowballs . We were encouraged to eat our snacks and drink water! The point is Lisbet was going to keep us warm and believe it or not the cold even at -30 was not an issue!
The mushing was amazing it was easy to get the hang of. Each person had 6 dogs . We learned their positions on the team how to harness / unharness and generally helped to care for them. The dogs where very enthusiastic ,
Nils and Lisbet shared their vast knowledge on all things Alaska ; we learned about , Siberian Husky’s, Bear dogs, wolves , moose, hunting ,trapping , snow machines, permafrost, breaking trail , The Iditarod, gold mining…. You get the idea N/L were very good at immersing us in what they know and clearly love. This is rare and should be celebrated.
The landscape of the White Mountains was spectacular. The cabin was warm and comfortable. We even saw the northern lights!
I highly recommend Arctic Dog Adventure Co! Finally , Lisbet is a great communicator and will address any questions you have.
Go for it !

We did a 3 day sled dog tour with Arctic Dog and had a fantastic time. Lisbet and Nils were great hosts and we were very impressed with their level of knowledge, abundance of gear, and organizational skills. The whole trip flowed perfectly. Going in, I was worried about the sub zero temps of interior Alaska in January, and wondered how we could possibly be comfortable. However, we were warm and dry the whole time due to the fantastic gear they provided and the packing list Lisbet gave us before hand. Almost all the gear I brought with me was my typical winter wear that I already had in my closet, everything else was provided by Arctic Dog. Dog sledding itself was indescribably fun. The White Mountain Recreational Area was beautiful and felt like a special and unique place. The cabin was cozy and comfortable. Spending time with the dogs, getting to know them, and helping take care of them was a highlight as well. Overall, I would highly recommend a sled tour with Arctic Dog for anyone who loves animals and adventure travel.
