We rented a room for my son and his girlfriend who came to town for his 30th birthday. They could not stop talking about the beauty of the place, the history and the delicious breakfast Mr. DeWolf cooked for them. If I could give this place 100 stars I would. We will definitely use it again when they come back home for a visit. Oh...and Kimo the butler....a complete delight and great tour guide !!!

Villa de Wolf is a stunningly and lovingly restored mansion (a banker's former home) in historic Jacksonville, an often overlooked goldmine of history...it referred to itself in its heyday as the "Athens of the West." Jethro de Wolf has created a beautiful place, meticulous and creative in detail, and it's walkable to downtown and Illinois College. He's a thoughtful host who makes over-the-top personalized breakfasts and knows half--if not more--of the town, so he went out of his way to help publicize some events I was holding there. Treat yourself to one of the beautiful suites!

WOW! What an amazing experience. Sir Jethro is probably one of the most amazing people we have met on the road. We are a touring band from Arizona called “Last Train to Juarez”. We spend a lot of time on the road, stay in a lot of places, and meet a ton of people. |This was probably one of our favorite places we have ever stayed. The history that Jethro gave to us on his bed and breakfast and the hospitality was beyond 5 stars. The beds were amazing, showers were hot and beautiful, and the detail of every inch of this place was just incredible. |Anytime we are coming back through Jacksonville, we hope to stay here but if it’s not available, you better believe we will be stopping by to say hello to our new friend Jethro! |Do yourself a favor if you are staying in Jacksonville and experience this place. |Thank you Jethro 🙏🙏

Jethro, your happy host, will explain the history of the house and describe how Abraham Lincoln would visit the neighborhood and Augustus Ayers, the home's original owner, when he came to Jacksonville for court. My family and I stayed at Villa DeWolf while we were in town for a baseball tournament. It was more than just a stay—it was an amazing experience. I loved the historical significance and the owner’s and staffs’ passion for the history of the mansion and town. It felt so comfortable and peaceful. And I loved how quiet and clean is was compared to most hotels in the area. We were just 5 minutes from the ballpark as well!!! I felt like I had stepped back in time but at the same time, had all the modern luxuries. Mr. DeWolf and Kimo the butler were just extraordinary people. We will be back for sure!!!!! It was an experience we will never forget!

Top Notch Service in this quaint town. Mr. DeWolf's passion for preserving history made the mansion a hidden gem on our list. Preservation meets all of the modern necessities at this historical site. From the guided tour with historical facts, to the butler service, and the keeping of the authenticity seamlessly blending with modernizations, our stay was enjoyable. The room was clean, the water was hot, and the homemade breakfast was delish. All things we look for when traveling.
