We had a wonderful stay at The Federal House Inn. The rooms are lovely! Everything was clean and comfortable. The basics are all perfect: Easy parking. Internet works everywhere without a glitch. Extra towels are easily available. And Kevin, the owner is readily available and extremely helpful, so if you had any questions or issues I am sure it would be managed well. Additionally, Kevin, thinks of so many details and little treats that make every moment special. We loved the relaxing environment. We had amazing breakfasts! I definitely enjoyed relaxing in the common area with a beverage! It was a fabulous stay!!! Thank you Kevin!

What a magical experience! Kevin Is one of the best hosts, and cooked us a phenomenal and super healthy breakfast (with local ingredients! 😍). It is so rare that you find a host that truly cares about making sure you’re well fed, comfortable, and having a wonderful time in the town. He had so many great recommendations for local hikes, sights, eateries, and also provided snacks and beverages free of charge.
As for the room, Kevin offered my friend and I a larger room free of charge since it was not booked for the night. Superb host, cozy and clean room, and I felt completely comfortable and cared for.
I would visit Plymouth again simply just to stay at the federal house inn!
Thanks Kevin!

Our stay at Federal House was delightful and a highlight of our trip. House rules were no problem and when we saw how beautiful the house is, and all the hard work it took to bring it to fruition, the rules made perfect sense. Let's face it, people can be very disrespectful of others homes. |We were two couples and stayed in Harry and Sally's rooms. We each had our own bathrooms and robes are provided. Everything was very clean and beds were comfortable. |We were greeted with wine and cookies by host Kevin. We enjoyed hearing about all the restoration work and his travels. What an interesting life he's lived!|The home is well located to restaurants and has a peaceful back yard. We enjoyed interacting with the other guests. |Our breakfast was fruit and deconstructed lobster benedict...so good!|It was a wonderful B&B experience!

The rooms were fine but be prepared if you have an upstairs room with a “private bath” you may have to go through a public hallway to get there. The host Kevin is quirky, with some house rules like “you can’t sit in that chair for breakfast”. You sit over there” (even though I was happily talking with other guests at a long table only set for them while waiting for my partner to join me). And shoes must come off first thing, but no chair in hallway to sit to take them off, and not allowed into adjacent room with chairs until shoes were off. And breakfast was interesting but weird. Yes there were fresh lobster pieces on the plate but the main entry was a hot egg on top of cold lettuce and a sauce. Something he called lobster Benedict. But No bread, muffins, potatoes or any carbs at all. Yes fresh fruit plate, but no juice or anything else to drink besides coffee and tea. I would recommend this place only if you enjoy quirky. We didn’t.

Charming! Kevin (host) was lovely as was my room. Breakfast was hearty AND delicious. Lots of nice extras if one wants to take advantage of them such as late afternoon goodies or evening wine, hot tub outside, pretty backyard. Excellent internet. And a great location. Hope to visit again!

We had to take shoes off at the door. We did have a “private” bath but it was in a public hall, where Kevin placed cameras. No space in the bathroom to set things like a curling iron. The bathroom fan squawked very loudly when it was on. Our door was left open after cleaning even though I said I wanted it closed. No food or drinks allowed in the room. We couldn’t take our cooler in. My friend was advised that he could leave his refrigerated medicine in the public refrigerator! Kevin rudely said he advised me of all his rules and restrictions at booking. He did not. I would have never booked the room had I known. I guess that’s going to be my word against his. The outside stone steps were extremely hazardous, and outside lighting was nonexistent. Breakfast was skimpy. If Kevin wants to run this house as a B&B, he needs to be way more accommodating. Instead, he’s running it as a museum with no consideration for his guests’ comfort.

I had a lovely room with a four poster bed and loads of pillows. En-suite bathroom with claw foot tub. and original wood flooring in suite and fireplaces still in place. Complimentary breakfasts were culinary delights. Truly appreciated the small dining room mini bar with access to tea, coffee and water bottles throughout the day. Lots to do in the mountain region of NH, and lots of nearby restaurants. Check out the hot tub after a long busy day! The inn is cozy and comfortable, Kevin is a kind, well spoken host, and welcoming to all guests. Will definitely be back! 👍👍👍👍👍

We enjoyed our 2 nights here. From the time of booking, the communication from the inn keeper, Kevin, was prompt and helpful. During our stay Kevin was helpful with tips on what to do and where to go. Each morning the breakfast was very good and healthy. I really appreciate the eggs and meat from local farms. Extras like the 24/7 beverage station, fresh snacks, and the afternoon glass of wine was a nice touch. We stayed in the John Adams room with a nice sunny view out to the backyard. The inn has so much character and charm and we found it all very comfortable. ||Within walking distance (right next door) is the Last Chair restaurant and brewery that I also recommend. Great pizza and local brews.
