My recent time here was for a to-go order for French Onion Soup. This place actually cares about how they package it, along with how amazing it smells and tastes. Here you get your soup in one container, then your cheese in another, and to top it off your croutons in another. Everything is packaged how it should be to make your food taste great.
The first time we went here was for our anniversary. Service was top notch, food was mouth watering, and the view of the lake brought everything together.
If you're looking for a place that actually cares about you as a person and not fully looking at you as a $ walking in the door. You want to experience wonderful food, top notch service, and a place that is warm and comforting, you have to come here and take it all in.

The scenery was amazing, and their service was great, but I wouldn't recommend eating any meat here unless you like overly salted food.

My husband and I went here on the 3rd of July and I'm really glad we did. We had a very nice time. There was a band playing, they did fireworks, and had good food. The food was honestly better than we expected. Then there is a gorgeous view on the water. We will definitely be going back!

First of all - the prices are amazing. Food was great too, especially the wings. It’s a large restaurant with plenty of seating options at the bar, the dining area, and outside. Beautiful view. I would go again if in the area.

Drove an hour up to meet my best friend for brunch. The eggs tasted old and had the weirdest consistency, bacon was extremely greasy, the Biscuits for the Biscuits and gravy was so hard I could barely get my fork through it. The server seemed extremely disinterested. Did not even give a name when I sat down, or an explanation that it was even a breakfast buffet or how it worked. Made no effort for any conversation or even small talk. The review should only be 1 star, but I gave an extra because a kettle soda was cheap. That was the only positive. Definitely a cheaper brunch buffet, but not worth it.

Nice place with friendly service. We were greeted and seated quickly.
Diane had the BBQ sandwich with sliced brisket and sweet potato fries. The brisket was nice and tender, and the fries were hot and crispy.
I had the BBQ melt with chopped brisket, Swiss and American cheese on Texas toast. The first version came out on burnt toast and had leftover burnt pieces of brisket that were dry and un edible. The server agreed that it was bad and quickly had them redo it. The manager then came by and apologized and brought me the new sandwich. Very good handling of the issue.
The new sandwich was perfectly cooked toast and juicy, tender brisket. Awesome.
When we received our check, I noticed that there was a $2 upcharge on each sandwich for choosing brisket. I was taken by surprise because the menu only shows and upcherge for the plates, but the sandwiches say you can choose any meat and list the price.
The manager tried to explain that it's a $2 upcharge on ANY item on the menu. I suggested they make that clear on the menu, and she removed the charges.
The manager handled everything without big arguments and with a pleasant attitude.

a place on the water, as we usually do, we found this place with good reviews. Upon arriving, we asked for a seat outside on the patio and was told it was closed, so we took a seat by the window in the bar because the dining room was also not available. As we sat down, we noticed there were people on the patio around the fire pit who just had drinks, and we just figured they were not getting served. The very next folks that came in were seated on the patio and given menus, and also, the dining room was suddenly open. That was rude and very irritating.
Now that the host is handled, the rest was good.
Diane chose the combo platter from the specials. One piece of walleye, one piece of beer battered cod, one skewer of grilled shrimp, fried clams strips, coleslaw, and bread.
Everything was cooked just right with minimal breading. The shrimp had a mild flavorful seasoning and was very tasty.
I had the fried Walleye that was, again, done right and very tasty.
Each came with a cup of clam chowder that was ok. It seemed to be made with cream of chicken soup, but since I'm a fan of that, I enjoyed it.
The coleslaw was a disappointment as it was just mush. About the consistency of apple butter.
If the host had not started us off with a bad experience, we may have enjoyed it even more, but overall, the rest of the service and the food were good.

The food was absolutely nothing to write home about. We got the large prime rib. Was it seasoned? We've never had a piece of prime so under-prepared. The mashed potatoes could have remained in the box.

The service wasn't bad, but nothing to notice either. As was the decor. It's unfortunate that the local bar in Markesan has a killer prime rib and overall dining experience and Sunset doesn't. And the Markesan joint doesn't even promote themselves...
