This facility is really fantastic, it’s seemed newly renovated, very clean and calming. I had a full day and was able to book a last minute appointment so I didn’t have the chance to experience the amenities which I was so sad about because they have a heated/hot pool to relax in that looked amazing. ||La Toya was my masseuse and she was a 15 out of 10! She was so warm and got right into the massage which was one of the best I’ve had in a long time, and I love a massage. I got the Himalayan stone and it was very calming but firm— heaven. Highly recommend her and the spa!

A luxurious gem in the middle of DC. The location is great. You are less than a handful of blocks walking to the mall and museums. The building is regal. The doormen are friendly, helpful, professional, and knowledgeable - a great bunch of people. Inside, the opulent, stylish lobby and lounge is happening - you feel like you are entering a party where everyone has been waiting for you to arrive. The people working the front desk could not be any more personable. Exactly what you want in a hotel. The food in the lounge is delicious, the menu has something for every craving light or full meal. The fancy restaurant DogonDC is a gourmet experience. The rooms are luxurious, comfortable, and clean. The view from the window of our room was of the Jefferson Memorial - gorgeous and inspiring night and day. All in all, great value, great people, a great experience. And as I said at the outset, it's close to all the museums and sites.

Beautiful hotel in a great location. Very family friendly. We went with our family for a staycation. Suite upgrade with our Amex. All the staff were kind and courteous, doing everything to ensure we enjoyed our stay. Kids enjoyed the indoor heated pool. Overall we enjoyed ourselves but want the hotel to consider a few things to improve on. ||||1.Overpriced buffet without anything really spectacular. For a hotel of this caliber, we expected more. It was good, but not great. Would have loved to see better selection of fresh fruits such as berries (there was literally a 10inch plate of fruit for the entire buffet that was being refilled), hard boiled eggs, French toast, breakfast specialties/pastries (muffins were dry and tasteless). ||2. No blackout curtains. We were excited to enjoy the comfy bed, but upset to wake up so early due to the light peering in. Apparently the front desk told me they are working on this. ||3. Gym equipment has an option to connect to streaming channels, but internet was not connected on any of them. Minor detail, but want the hotel to know. ||||Special shout out for the amazing service from Mara at the front desk and Olga in housekeeping.

I'm not a big walker and the hotel is a little removed and my room faced rr tracks. The bar is small for a big conference but the staff is amazing. They greet you with a smile, it was always such an amazing experience. LOVED the coffee maker.

I love this hotel, it has the best service ever!!!! The only thing was the rooms, I hate to mention but I will. . the lights weren’t working or they were extremely dim. The bathroom shower smelled horrible. And seemed like they were not the cleanest. But we stayed for one day. Any everything else was excellent! I enjoyed the spa they had downstairs that was a wonderful experience. The lounge area was a vibe. My husband and I enjoyed relaxing and talking. And the breakfast in bed was everything! Gluten free options. And vegan food.

I booked this hotel to celebrate my husband’s birthday. He was not wished happy birthday and nothing was provided. The staff failed to inform me that the monument club was no longer available that I reserved in September 2024. I found out myself booking the spa online less than two weeks before arrival. I had to beg for a drink voucher or something for the inconvenience and that still turned out to be a whole ordeal. It took them 4 tries to properly activate both keys for our room. Everything in this hotel was extremely overpriced. The lounge, The Marina Room and room service had limited menus. Not worth the price. The eggs weren’t even real. There were marks and nicks on the walls in the room. We had to ask for more body wash so now I’m asking myself, was the room actually cleaned? I expected more and received a basic experience and left feeling robbed. My husband and I did enjoy the spa and Dogon. The service was excellent from them both. I spent so much money in this hotel for a luxury experience and it missed the mark.

Not a 5-star hotel. No attention to detail. Entire experience (rooms, service. gym, spa, breakfast) feels mediocre at best. There are empty mini bars in the rooms that no longer function, a relic of the past I guess. The breakfast and ‘Breakfast Room’ are disappointing. Feels like a 3-star dining experience. The gym and spa are surprisingly small given the amount of renovations they did. The relaxation room and hot tub/sauna area of the spa is very small and crowded. There are no little snacks in the rooms upon check in or chocolates at turn down. There are simply no ‘nice touches’ or delightful moments. At one point in my stay my room key got deactivated and I had to go back down and get a new one and waiting for about 5 minutes for someone to see me and help me because there was only one person working at the front desk. One morning I went to the gym and breakfast for 2.5 hours and had my room ‘service’ light on and no one came around to clean it during that time. But at 8:45am on the morning we were checking out someone came around knocking on the door and woke us up to ask if we wanted room cleaning. A 5-star hotel should already know when I plan to check out and not have housekeeping try to clean the room that morning. If you are attending a conference here I guess it’s fine. If you are coming here to enjoy a nice hotel experience, you will be disappointed.

It is with a heavy heart that I write this review because I love the Salamander. Unfortunately this visit became memorable for the wrong reasons. After arriving at 10A for spa appointments and dropping my luggage, when I went to get my key at 5P my room was not ready due to engineering “fixing the door”. In retrospect a clue that this room probably should not have been given to a guest. Got a key at 6P as I was heading in to dine. Got into my room at 10P. Blinds didn’t close so a call to engineering to fix that. TV wouldn’t turn off (broken remote). No conditioner in the bottle for my shower the next morning. The light above the closet constantly flickered (bad dimmer). And then as I was watching TV while getting ready for brunch, the hotel checked me out of my room at 8:30A and I had to call the desk to get that corrected. These are all annoying things that should NEVER happen at a 5-star resort. But worst was that I was offered COFFEE as a gesture - no reduction in the bill, no services comp’d - COFFEE. I already had coffee in the room. Housekeeping staff needs improved training to ensure all aspects of the room are in full working order and the front desk staff should have a more appropriate response than coffee when a guest has this experience.||But the upside was that all other service was amazing, especially the spa, restaurant (Dogon-HIGHLY RECOMMEND), and lobby lounge/bar.
