Wanted to share my experience booking with these guys through Airbnb so another family doesn’t have this happen to them.

Booked a trip to a North Conway property managed by Peter and Julia back in early April 2024. Our reservation was for 6/23/24-6/26/24.

We confirmed our booking and made our first installment payment , bought the Storyland tickets and hyped the kids up for this years ‘cation’ as they call it.

Fast forward to June 8 2024 and the last half of our trip was paid for. All good until I got a notification saying the price of our trip went up by $185 and that I owe more now too. Naturally I wanted to know why the price was changing this late in the game so I contacted the hosts.

Peter dodged my call but did respond pretty quickly through the app. He claimed no accountability for this and told me I have to contact Airbnb directly.

After an hour plus on hold with Airbnb they told me prices are set by the hosts and to take it up with them.

Frustrated I went back to Peter and got nowhere once again. So I said I’d see them June 23 for our trip and that our review will include this experience.

Woke up today, June 9th, to find that our trip is now cancelled. Apparently the suggestion that I’d offer insight into the booking experience constitutes a threat and therefore they decided to cancel us without notice.

So now two weeks out my kids now have no vacation on the books. Airbnb tried to help us rebook and Peter and company refused. I now see the property listed for our dates for the same price I originally paid . Apparently it’s 185 less for everyone else.

Still no explanation for how or why the price went up to begin with- which is all I really wanted. If there’s a valid reason then so be it - but apparently nobody wants to investigate.

My kids are devastated and we now have 2 weeks to find another place to accommodate us.

The absolute lack of humanity in dealing with these people is astonishing. STAY AWAY at all costs!! Save yourself this type of heartache and book with literally anyone else.

Apparently there is zero recourse for their actions through Airbnb. Since they canceled my trip, I don’t even have the ability to review the experience with them on Airbnb itself. A I can do is make others aware of of how they operate here (and anywhere else I can find to review their services) and hope this doesn’t happen to another family.

I made two calls to you- one where I left a voicemail asking for an explanation for the price increase. That call was dodged.

And a second one this morning after you CANCELLED my families vacation rather than investigate the issue.

Admittedly my tone in the latter call was not friendly as we are 2 weeks out from our fully paid for reservation and we now have no place to stay.

But at no point did I “threaten” anyone and I would hardly call asking for an explanation for a last minute upcharge harassment.

I said I would review my experience with you accordingly. Thats not a threat but a reflection of the experience I’ve had with you. And here I am doing just that .

This has been the most disgusting behavior from anyone in the hospitality business I’ve ever seen and this experience should be known by anyone attempting to rent from you.

Edit number 2 :

Not only is airbnb currently actively investigating you guys as hosts to see if action can be taken against you, but they have given my family a substantial credit for the awful experience we had with you.

As a result we were able to book another more expensive property with another host who seems to know how hospitality and customer service work. I suspect if we were in any way out of line asking for an explanation for the last minute $185 dollar up charge that this wouldn’t be the case.

Once again I’d urge anyone here to consider *any* other option- there are plenty of good hosts and ultimately Airbnb did do what they could to make this right by us.

Both the property and property owners were amazing! Home had so much room and had everything we could have ever needed to make our stay wonderful. Home was so close to everything we wanted to do in North Conway/Mount Washington. Will definitely stay again.

We greatly enjoyed our stay here. The home was very clean and the amenties were wonderful. It was a very pleasant stay. There are a few steps to get into the property, so it's not wheelchair accessible, but the view was nice and being so close to the town was a real advantage. We'd definitely go there again!

The condo we stayed at was absolutely beautiful and in a perfect location! The photos of the condo online are what sold us, however the condo was even bigger and better in person. We were minutes from Cranmore and downtown North Conway, the condo provided everything from linens to family games to a beautiful gas fireplace. The outdoor, screened in porch area was great for a game of cards and some fresh air. Julia and Peter were very accommodating and helpful with any questions we had. I highly recommended this property.
