I’ve never not had an amazing time here, food is always unique and delicious. You can tell the chefs enjoy what they do, and that makes all the difference! Also love that the menu changes - it’s like a new adventure every time.

We stopped in on a cool early October evening for late dinner and drinks. The food, drinks, service and atmosphere were all great, albeit a little thin on crowd due to later evening.

We started with the Great Bay Martini and Girly Lounge. We followed that with a few tapas, starting with the Fall Salad, Beef short rib marmalade, Squash Lasagnette, Crispy Pork Belly and Arctic Char.

We finished the night with a Tito’s soda and cranberry drink mixed well.

We recommend the place along you’re in Portsmouth. They serve small plates so don’t expect large meals, it’s more about tasting a lot of smaller items, as opposed to large meals.

Server was not really friendly. Manager was friendly and spoke kindly to his employees. Cute place, food was hit or miss for us.

Since it’s tapas I’ll give a little review of what we tried. Most things had a redeeming quality but generally missed the mark or were inconsistent.

Forest flower cocktail: 5/5 delicious!

Patatas bravas: 3/5. Wasn’t expecting the potatoes to be unseasoned home fries…was thinking more of a fingerling potato or something would’ve been better…the roasted garlic and herb crema was very good.

Fried pickle chips: 0/5 took half a bite... They were too thick. Texturally terrible. The sauces with them were good! So I was so sad.

Corn muffins: 4/5 maple jalapeƱo cream cheese was good.

Mini beef burgers: 5/5 good and very cute. They were juicy and well prepared.

Beef short rib marmalade: 5/5

Cacio e pepe: 5/5

Baked haddock: 1/5 no flavor at all. Sunchoke puree was alright. Brussels sprouts agrodolce was good. Beef vinaigrette somehow had no flavor as well?

Johnny cake community: 3/5 was alright but wouldn’t order again.

Fried brioche: 5/5 cute dessert, was good with the blueberry.

I had a great experience at Moxy! My server April was fantastic. As soon as I mentioned that I was gluten sensitive, which means I’m generally ok with cross contamination, she highlighted the menu items I could have. I got the fried calamari which was quite the treat since I rarely get to have fried foods. The roasted carrots were perfectly crunchy and generous for a tapa. I also got the crispy pork belly with a sweet potato butter. I was definitely full with 3 tapas but April convinced me I had to get the chocolate pots de creme and boy was she right. Thank goodness I was born with a second stomach for dessert. Overall this was a great experience and I would definitely come back. I feel it’s one of the best restaurants in Portsmouth NH.

Our drinks were enjoyable, but the food overall was just alright and didn't particularly stand out. Among everything we tried, the mushroom carbonara and the short rib marmalade were the highlights for us. However, my partner was not pleased with her New England dinner, mentioning that the meat had an undesirable greasy flavor.

We selected Moxy for the Portsmouth restaurant week. Our table samples diverse offerings (except for the 4th course).

Of the courses, the barramundi was a stand out, both beautiful and delicious, a wonderfully balanced spring plate.

The service was attentive and prompt. We were not rushed and had time to complete each course before the next was brought out.

I would love to return to sample the regular menu.

Tasty tapas. Creative cocktail choices. Excellent experience.

Had dinner with friends before a jazz show. We tried a little of just about everything on the menu. Small plates were delicious. Our server was attentive and very friendly. Cool vibe.

Glad I was introduced to this best kept secret.
