Riding the gundalow was a New England history bucket list item for me, and the trip did not disappoint. The gundalow tour was a fun and relaxing experience even with a bit of rain. I appreciated its modern safety features like life vests, a safety barrier, and an onboard motor. I especially enjoyed the interaction of raising the sail. I would gladly return to try another tour, such as the Sunset Sail, Concert Cruise, and Speaker Series. Tickets for the ninety-minute Portsmouth Harbor Sail were $35 for adults, $17.50 for children ages 8 to 15, and $8 for children under 8. Proceeds support the educational programs of the Gundalow Company.

I had a great 👍 time! Only issue, the ride is to short. Private rentals available for weddings or celebrations where you can go under the Memorial and Sarah Long 🌉 Bridges. The crew were professional and informative. I had a chance to speak 🗣️ to several, especially the captain. She was very friendly and told me how people from other ⛵ boats will inmate her hand gestures to her crew. She even told me about her encounterer with Harbor Patrol 🚓 and why they watch us go by. You can help unfurl the sail. You can look inside the gundalow as well. It's a nice view of the Piscataqua River.
I had a Groupon voucher. I recommend a visit.
If you do reserve a spot, check ✔️ in at the gundalow where it's docked at Prescott Park 🏞️.
I remember seeing this gundalow being built years ago.
It says non profit because they do educational tours with kids to get children interested in the environment, maritime history and preservation.
Update: Saturday afternoon, May 2022; Now doing adventures, hikes and tours that don't always involve sailing. I was invited via email to a hike and lunch at the Raymond & Simone Savage Wildlife Preserve at South Berwick, Maine. Wonderful walk and lunch was provided by The Puddledock Restaurant. I met the woman handling events for Gundalow and she was very nice.
They had an exhibit at the Sheaf's Warehouse that had a model of the Gundalow, an interactive display and touchscreens that displayed information on the environment and history of the Seacoast.
Update: August, 2022; Parade of Sails tour. Great time! The captain, she remembered me! Great time taking again!
Update; September 2024; Toured Little Bay in Durham and observed 🦭 seals and water fowl. Met the Captain again. I had a good time and we didn't encounter the harbor patrol 🚓.

This was a great family experience for all involved. We had a smooth ride down river to the lighthouse and back to Prescott Park. The history lesson was informative, made sense, and peaked our interest. The kids got to be involved, giving parents a break, in handling lines for ships movements. The hands on sea life exhibit/educational experience also entertained the kids. Overall a great time and with good staff on board.

Well worth the ticket price! They give a nice history of the gundalow. And kids/adults can help unfurl the sail. Go out far enough to see lighthouses. Fun trip.

Enjoyed a beautiful evening on the water. Spirited music on the concert tour, just a bit of education about the boat and historic perspective, great sights and relaxed atmosphere!

Very cool sunset sail. Not your typical narrated harbor tour, more of just a relaxing trip for you to spend time with your group. We did get a chance to ask Sue a bit more about the Piscataqua’s history and she was happy to tell us all about it! It’s BYOB and glass seemed ok because there some bottles of wine being enjoyed.

Our trip on the gundalow was in Great Bay from Adams Point. It's a delightful trip and we had a perfect evening. Sunny with a slight breeze. The crew are attentive and pleasant, sharing their knowledge with the guests. We brought a picnic with us and enjoyed it while listening to the music provided that evening. This is a must trip for anyone interested in maritime history or who loves the sea and its surroundings. We saw an eagle and several herons. Traffic on the bay was non-existent. It was a very enjoyable two hour experience I would highly recommend.
