Happy so far! I like that it’s fast access and I’m on the main level. Price is alright so far for a 5x5 (~$70) but if the price increases to $80 or $90 it wouldn’t be worth it and I’d go with a different company.

The office staff are EXTREMELY friendly and helpful. Top notch.

Online sign-up was super easy. Access hours are okay. Very clean facility. My space didn't have a ceiling so I didn't keep anything of real value in there. Most other units have a ceiling. Checkout went really smooth. The monthly rent was increased to an excessive amount so I had to take my things out. While I was clearing out my unit, I mentioned to an employee that I needed to checkout. Liz, a friendly customer-focused employee, said she'd take care of it. Before I was finished with the last few boxes, she'd taken care of it. I was going to give 4 stars because of the rent increase and no ceiling, but Liz gave them another star!

After some time, the rate will double without any notice. Be careful and keep checking your rates. Or they will run an open check book on you. And if you talk with them, they will say nothing they can do it's just how the market is. But across the street you can rent half price from u-haul and knowledgeable staff could not explain this market phenomenon.

I called a few days ago to rent a unit at Extra Space Storage on Harlem avenue, I did not expect such a beautiful unit or the level of customer service that I received! When I pulled up to the building Elizabeth came running out to greet me and got me my carts and helped me with my belongings to my unit. This was so sweet because I had had a very hard morning and it was raining. I rented a 5x5 and it seems much bigger. It was very adequate for what I needed. I highly recommend Extra Space Storage and especially this Extra Space location!

Excellent Perfect fixes a major problem. PUBLIC STORAGE did not have Carts or working elevators. It would have been impossible to move in an hour. Called Extra Space, and they helped, and I was able to get unloaded in only an hour and a half. They Saved my backside! Thank you, Extra Space Storage!!!

2023: The facility recently redid the roof of the facility and I did not receive any notice about it. Hence, all my items in storage was covered in broken tar paper and nails. Luckily I had some of my items covered otherwise the particles from the old roof would have damaged my items. Plus, the elevator was out for the second building, and the attendant stated he did not know when it was going to be fixed. When I called up there again to check Elizabeth informed me that the elevator "worked the entire week" So I went up there to check and literally stood there for 2 minutes trying to get the elevator to work. I left and called back later. Elizabeth again stated that the elevator worked, that is when I informed her that I was just up there. And took video of the elevator door not opening on the first floor, that I would show her in person. Miraculously when I got there the elevator door was finally able to open. The customer service at this location is just terrible go elsewhere.
2020: Yes even though the first month is free there are introductory costs. Standard upkeep costs and lock fees, they provide the lock eliminating the chance people doing their own "thing". The customer service I have seen is excellent. Elizabeth was energetic about explaining how the monthly payment plan works, the different rates for each room and the various sizes. This facility is air conditioned (climate controlled), so the wear and tear on your personal belongings is lessened. The facility is very clean and very well maintained.

This place is great! Elizabeth is awesome, too. I would definitely recommend this place if you're looking for a storage unit in the Oak Park / Forest Park area.
