We stayed for a few nights for a family event in town. The room and bathroom were both very clean. It’s nice to have the kitchenette area in your room. Above average hotel room refrigerator. Excellent water pressure in the shower. The exterior door was left unlocked by other guests a few times, unfortunately. Clothing storage was a bit tricky in the closet.

This is definitely a better location to than the hotel on the north side of town. Also much easier than driving back to Effingham for a hotel. We will definitely stay here again on our next trip to Casey.

Stopped in Casey on our way to St Louis. Room 202 was beautiful with lots of natural light. Reading little messages from other travelers stuck between bricks is really fun. You could spend your whole evening reading them if you're into that. There's a fridge microwave and 2 sinks. After you see all the big stuff it's a nice place to rest. There is a train that comes by whistle blasting, I loved it and it made me laugh 😂 a worthy quirk

I wasn't sure what to expect here but was pleasantly surprised to find it as intriguing as it was comfortable. In the heart of downtown, it is near everything you need to experience in Casey. It's truly an oddball town with all the "giant" artworks, well worth the day just walking/riding around finding these oddities. We spent 2 nights at the 1890 Sleepover and it was quite unique. Well-appointed facility, comfortable beds, great showers and exceptional staff. A very nice coffee zone on 2nd floor and event/game room on 1st. There is no food service but some very good dining options nearby, including just across the street. If you're looking for a short getaway, I highly recommend this one. You won't be sorry.

My mother and I were traveling through and stopped for only 1 night but after our night, we are making plans to return in the future!! Super comfy beds, atmosphere is unmatched, extremely clean, and a friendly and helpful owner! The exposed brick, the wood floors, the fixtures, it’s very clear that this place had a LOT of love and care put into it. All of the lower reviews I read were about specifics or circumstantial, but we didn’t have a single complaint or tik against. We thought everything added character and was intentional with the experience provided. We loved the sounds, smells, location, everything. Can’t wait to be back for an actual trip here and stay longer!! 12/10 stars!

A friend and I stayed 1 night. We showed up a little late but that was not a problem. We noticed the outside elevator shaft. We were nervous but intrigued at the same time. For the experience, we rode the elevator up to the 2nd floor. Needless to say, there was nothing scary, it was a wonderful touch to the hotel, actually! I have and will continue to spread the word about thi lovely, historical building. I lived the little notes left behind and tucked away in the walls. Overall our stay was absolutely perfect! When we woke up we enjoyed looking at all the "BIG THINGS" the town had to offer. I would stay there again and again. Thank you!

We are so glad we stayed. You feel like you have stepped back in time to when things were simpler. It is an older building if light or noise is an issue you may want to bring earplugs and/or a sleep mask.

The room feels more like a sleepover at a friend's place than a rented room. It is cared for as one would care for their home. It was very clean, I would say the cleanest hotel I've stayed in.

On our trip out we had a very bad experience at a chain hotel. Heading home we searched in Casey, it is closer to home than Effingham. Our choice a chain hotel or 1890. 1890 has a reasonable rate with reviews saying cleanest hotel they've seen. We gave it a shot and we are glad we did.

We will be back! Going to make a short getaway trip to stay here and explore the Big things with my husband. I'll probably do the same with a group of girls just for a reason to stay here again.

Wonderfully restored hotel in a great town. We stayed in rooms 304 and 306 and loved the rooms -- very clean and comfortable. There are some creaks from the old floors, which only add to the ambiance. We loved our stay here. There is an elevator to the 2nd floor.
