My family and I stayed three nights. It was great. Due to problems on our end we had to change the dates of our travel. The owners were wonderful and worked with us so we would not have to cancel and up graded us at no charge to the larger cabin. The furnishings were lovely. My children loved the loft and the neighbors dog that adopted us during our stay. Our bedroom was cozy. Both the loft and the bedroom had window air conditioners but we did not use them. The cabin did have a stackable washer/dryer which we used heavily due to the mud caused by the rain every afternoon. The cabin also had wifi but service was intermittent. It was beautiful to sit and look at the view in any direction and enjoy the peace and scilence of nature away from cars and noisy machines. My son and husband enjoyed plinking on the owner's private gun range and being able to shoot bb's at tin cans. My daughter enjoyed the playground equipment and hiking along the creek. There was also a lovely hammock next to the creek a perfect spot for relaxing. We will be back!

What a great spot for a family with kids, and even a dog if you're traveling with one. Our boys loved the swing and the chickens and seeing the cows. Our dog loved having space to be let off the leash for a little while, and there was a place to tie him up if needed. The house is in a scenic, secluded valley, and it was the perfect size for our crew. The beds were comfortable, and, if you plan to cook, there's a stove and fridge available, though we didn't use them. Jessica was a wonderful, personable host, and we'd go back in a heartbeat!

We decided to take a long weekend over 4th of July and visit southwestern Colorado. We didn't want to be in the crowds of Telluride or even Durango, and this place fit the bill! Just about 40 minutes from Durango, but a world away.||||The property is a working ranch - small herd, and we never saw or heard the cattle. The loudest thing was a neighbor's dog when we walked a ways down the creek. In other words: peace and quiet!. Del, our host, came to see us the second day, gave us a little history of the ranch and orientation of some places to explore. Very laid back approach, which fit perfectly with the vacation we were looking for. ||||The cabin, as others have noted, is a 1926 one-room schoolhouse converted into a guest cabin. It was just the two of us, but there is a sofa bed which makes it suitable for small families. There's a bathroom and shower , and a full kitchen, which was perfect as we both have dietary restrictions and could prepare most of our own meals. There's the creek just outside, a hammock nearby, propane grill. The weather was perfect, so we never turned on the window air conditioner, and were able to be lulled to sleep by the soft sound of the creek through the open windows.||||This is not a housekeeping cabin - there is no maid service. But everything you need is provided - pots and pans, dishes and basic kitchen staples, extra supplies for kitchen and bath. Basically, it's your own little home away from it all!||||Our two "negative" observations were:||We couldn't maintain enough hot water for even the briefest of showers (we never mentioned this to our hosts while we were there, so if there was an adjustment that could have been made, we didn't know about it)||||There's a kitchen sink...but it's not plumbed. To wash dishes, you use water from the bathroom sink. We didn't realize how much we depended on a kitchen sink until we didn't have one.||||||The price was right, the setting was lovely, the hosts were cordial without being overly-present. All in all, I'd say the Cherry Creek Mountain Ranch is a fine place to stay and I'd stay there again!

Was a tornado coming direction Hesperus or not, the P&G employee said "could be" anyhow, we bought our barbecue saucisses and marshmellows anyway..at the cabin finally we decided at 8 pm to start the fire, collecting small woods, larger woods, arranging the stones and grill material..we baked the saucisses, made some tortillas wraps, tomato, cucumber, no storm passed. As dessert we tried the marshmellows. It was an unforgetable evening we will not experience very often. The weather was at its best , as was the owner of the ranch during our stay. Nice 20 minutes dirt road from the mainroad, perfectly maintained so no problem even with our family van.

Kudos to TripAdvisor on this one. I found this place through TA and booked it based on the reviews and crossed my fingers. From the moment we arrived until we were on our way out, Jessica and her family made us welcome. We stayed in the log cabin that sleeps 8. The fact is this is a one bedroom cabin with a 1/2 loft. 4 beds up, a master with a queen size and a sleeper sofa. The sofa was not great, but what sofa sleeper is? Fully modern and functional kitchen, bath with tub and shower, adequate lighting and a wood burning stove if needed. We had no problem with 3 adults, and kids of 21, 11, & 9. All amenities were as described and working properly. ||||Now; the location. 10 miles in on a dirt & gravel from the highway started out kind of scary. But, there was gold at the end of the rainbow. The property is gorgeous. A working beef farm in a valley in the mountains is exactly what this is. Large grazing meadows bordered by soaring pines climbing the rock faces of the surrounding mountains. Secluded and quiet, this is it. If you are looking for a hotel with linen service and a spa....this is NOT for you. If you are looking for rugged beauty and the expanse of Mother Nature, look no further. ||||We enjoyed every moment at CCMR. 2 days before we left the kids were talking about when they wanted to come back. The adults chimed in right behind them. We will be back without a doubt. Thanks again for helping us make wonderful memories Jessica.

A beautiful, peaceful location! My family of six (grandparents to toddler) had a great stay in the Log Cabin. It had everything we needed, including washer/dryer. We also loved seeing the animals, playing on the swing, and enjoying sunrise and sunset in the outdoor spaces.

We spent four nights in the 1926 school house converted into a one room cabin. The bed was quite comfortable. The entire cabin is clean and has a window air conditioner, which we used as temperatures were near 100 during the day. Once the sun was below the mountain the temperature dropped nicely into the 60s and we opened the windows at night. We had a great time walking and exploring the ranch. We did not see any cattle or horses, which disappointed our daughter. The creek is cool, but watch for mosquitos, they are large! ||||The quirks are as follows: The hot water heater for the recently added bathroom is four gallons. We discovered this in the middle of giving our young daughter a shower our first night. She was less than pleased to have ice cold water to rinse her long hair. Our solution was to turn the water off during the lather and scrub stage of our showers. This allowed adequate hot water to rinse and clean. The other quirk is that the kitchen sink has no water plumbed to it at all. There is a bucket in the bathroom that must be filled and carried to the dry sink (which does have a drain) and dishes washed there. It would be wonderful if the owner would run water to the kitchen sink.||||Overall, we loved the quiet, country location, with no cell service, but great wifi and would stay again, if we ever return to the area. 20 minutes to Mesa Verde, 40 minutes to Durango.

We, my husband, dog, and I stayed in the ranch house. It was a great and relaxing place to spend a quiet weekend. We let our dog run around along the creek and in the pasture and she loved it. The kitchen was a great. It had all the necessities needed for making basic meals during the weekend. There was a sad lack of bowls though. Having the wifi was great considering we didn't get any cell reception on the property. We didn't mind that though.
