In a sneaky way they advertise and show pictures of the main building with the casino "Carson Valley Inn" but when you book it turns it is the motor lodge a blok away and they assure you the rooms are the same but nothing further from the truth. And if you are dissatisfied of course they offer an upgrade for 60% more. Awesome business practice. Do not recommend!

Beautiful town and accommodations. The hotel, casino and restaurant staff were amazing, friendly and helpful. Plenty of parking. The room was beautiful and spacious. Mom says that the eggs in the restaurant were the best she has ever had. Would love to come back and stay a little longer.

Hotel with Casino! Spacious room, hot pool and great views! Overall it was very pleasant stay there! I would not mind staying 40-50min drive away from Lake Tahoe to stay here. The neighborhood has few good restaurants and probably cheap Gas Stations (1.5$/gallon cheaper than Lake Tahoe gas stations)

I love this place. It’s a lot of fun to come here.
It’s a little hard to play the slot machine machines they’re pretty tight, but the overall environment is fun - are always clean and nice

CVI has been in my top 3 favorite casinos for over 15 years. The service is always amazing (only have ever had issues with one cocktail waitress that, unfortunately, still works there). Management and security are great. The cocktail servers are all absolutely amazing (minus that one woman). The food is always fantastic. CVI is always my first choice—I just wish you could get food 24/7! I’ve never stayed in the hotel, but I’ve heard from several friends that the rooms are nice & clean & that they’ve had positive experiences.

My only complaint was the photos show a bathtub, but the main hotel rooms have showers only. The lodge/long term units (about a block away) are the ones with the bathtub because the main hotel rooms were upgraded. Nice roomy stone tiled shower, with excellent water pressure.
This may seem ridiculous, but I wanted a soak when I was done with the conference, and I brought my bath bombs and bubbles.
When I asked to be switched to a room with a tub, they told me that I’d be charged an additional $200 a night for an upgraded room.
No thanks.
But the room was clean, the bed was firm but comfortable and felt brand new. Crisp white sheets. Plenty of wall sockets and there are usb plugs and an alarm. But you can also dial to get a courtesy wake up call as well. There’s a mini fridge in the room.
I could not get the room to cool off for anything, but fortunately the windows do open so I was able to cool off a little to sleep. It seemed to be set at 70 and no matter how much I lowered the thermostat, it would only get warmer.
The staff was at least courteous but not quite so friendly.
There is smoking allowed on the gaming floor, a full casino with slots and a full bar. Surprisingly the smoke smell did not travel outside that area at all. There are a few restaurants with quick service and reasonable prices.
The walls seemed a little thin on only one side of my room (I was in a corner where the building turned), which was surprising based on the silence in the hall.
They have 2 hot tubs, one with functional jets. And a fairly large pool, (bring a towel from your room, pool towels are the size of napkins). The hot tubs are separate off the pool, and the gym is off the pool area as well, enough cardio and weight training for a quick fitness session. Key card only entry so no one will be wandering in uninvited.
It’s a very small town, and trying to get lunch served within an hour (outside of the hotel) was a joke.
But they have a cute little coffee shop that also serves breakfast pastries and whatnot. Thank goodness for them, good coffee absolutely critical. Delicious cinnamon bun optional and well received. The lady in the cafe was very kind.
There’s covered and uncovered parking for guests, plenty of space for bigger vehicles, towing extras etc.
I believe there is valet check in, but they weren’t open when I arrived in the evening.
The hotel was fine, and certainly worth my convenience, time and money not to have to drive hours back and forth every day in traffic for our conference. I would stay there again.

Always have a good time when I stay there , it's big enough to have all you would want from a huge casino , but small enough to get that more personalized kind of visit, stay

Good hotel for the area if you don't mind the casino smell and older clientele. Very convenient location for accessing South Lake Tahoe, Carson Pass, ski areas, and taking the highway up to Reno, plus everything in Minden. Nice indoor pool and hot tub; the gym could use some updated equipment, though.
