Wir haben den Beaver Creek zu zweit in 24 Tagen, im Juni 2023, gepaddelt und waren das erste Team in 2023 überhaupt was rausgegangen ist. Die Tour startete bei Peter und Kelly, nach einem sehr herzlichen „Kennenlernabend“, zuhause. Am folgenden Tag wurden uns die Ausrüstung übergeben und im Detail erklärt, fehlendes Equipment ergänzt. Ferner ist Peter mit uns einkaufen gegangen um alle erforderlichen Lebensmittel, Getränke, Camping-Utensilien, Watstiefel und was man sonst so für einen Trip dieser Art benötigt. Dabei wurden wir stets sehr gut beraten z.B. was sich in der Vergangenheit und auch bei anderen Teams bewährt hat.
Als wir alles zusammenhatten ging es ans Probepacken des Bootes und an das Packen für den (Ernst) Fall, falls man kentern sollte. Das hat im übrigen bei uns bewährt ?
Im folgenden wurde eine detaillierte Kartenbesprechung über mehrere Stunden durchgeführt, mit dem Ziel über schöne Stellen zum Campen, schöne Wanderungen, als auch über mögliche Gefahrenstellen zu informieren. Alles wurde stets, in entspannter Atmosphäre, begleitet von schönen Anekdoten und Erfahrungen. Kelly hat uns über die Tage bei den Beiden immer hervorragend verköstigt und uns später auch zur Einsatzstelle am Nome Creek gebracht, als auch am Ende unserer Tour wieder an der Yukon Brücke eingesammelt.
Definitiv würde ich wieder bei Alaska Expedition Services buchen, das war einfach großartig! Vielen Dank an Kelly und Peter Kamper!
