BEWARE: Hotel will charge you for parking but may not tell you, give you a receipt, or even confirm if you had a car to park (only discovered because my card is linked to quickbooks). I never gave anyone my license or make/model. There are no signs and you wouldn't even expect it because there is plenty of parking in a quiet, uncrowded area, no attendants, no gates or security. This is a cheap, unprofessional, and deceitful way to make extra money. I did call and the employee kindly removed the charge. I visit Portmouth once every few months and won't be staying here again.

Positive: location, most staff were very pleasant and eager to assist. Negative: On arrival, the female receptionist provided no greeting, she gave no/little eye contact, we seemed to have interrupted her personal phone call, she "barked" an answer when I asked "do you need to see my license", a very harsh first encounter.

This hotel was advertised as being newly renovated. I think my expectations of what this meant and what I found were entirely different. This hotel did not live up to what I expected from a Homewood Suites by Hilton. I was not recognized as a Hilton Honors member. The most disappointing part of my stay was the breakfast. We stayed two nights and the breakfast was exactly the same both mornings. The usual bland scrambled eggs, sausage patties swimming in grease (I wasn't even sure they were sausage patties), potatoes and some unrecognizable side dish. I couldn't even tell you what it was. Unfortunately, nothing was identified. Also, nothing was replenished, for the most part. There was fresh fruit but that was never replenished, nor was the cheese if you wanted to add some to your eggs. On another note, the indoor pool was not heated so that was a bit shocking to get used to. It was clean, however, and there were towels available. On the plus side, most of the people who worked there were helpful and it was a decent location. Unfortunately, I will not be staying here again.

Rooms are hardly ever cleaned even tho they have posted everywhere that they service rooms every two days. Been staying here for almost two months and I have had to complain to the front desk multiple times about my constant issues. I later reached out to the GM who then reached out to the manager in charge of these services and things were addressed for about a week and half, but ultimately things returned to no service. Over disappointed in my overall stay.

I went with the family (including two young kids) for three nights. Although the desk was empty for ten minutes after our arrival, the service was otherwise quite good, and the morning breakfast staff was very pleasant. Breakfast shuts down around 10, but coffee, tea, and iced lemon water (as well as a bowl of fruit) is left out all day.

Because of its proximity to the Navy sub base, the hotel is constant filled with long-term guests who work in the yard. Parking is tight, but we were able to find our spot easily enough.

The gym is small but usable; there is an elliptical, a couple of treadmills, a free weights set and a single Peloton bike. (The bike didn’t work properly throughout my ride, even after re-started it and installed the software update.)

The pool is small and about five feet deep, but the water was clean and refreshing. It’s a great way to end a day out sightseeing.

The hotel is just about 1.5 miles from the quaint downtown core of Portsmouth. It’s located in a mixed-use office/residential complex/park. No gorgeous scenery but otherwise quite nice.

The hotel also has a courtyard with a grill that I suspect gets a lot of use during the warmer months.

As soon as you walk in you’re greeted by front desk employees who are out back smoking cigarettes and have no sense of urgency to get back inside to help you get checked in and settled. The first floor lobby area is pumped full of air freshener to give the guest a false sense of security that you are in a clean and welcoming environment/atmosphere. This "wall of Scent" seems to stop almost as soon as you get to the elevators. When i first got to my room, as soon as I opened my door, I was figuratively smacked in the face when the pungent odor of old instant soup and body odor. I opened the windows to try to help this odor go away. I picked up some cleaning supplies and air fresheners from the store almost immediately to the rid the room of the stench. This was to no avail. I approached the front desk about this multiple times. One of the employees asked me what i did to the room to fix the problem and he replied "well that's what we would have done so what do you want us to do" at the end of the conversation he offered to have the carpets shampooed or to change rooms. I asked him to do the shampoo but would later ask to switch rooms due to the smell of constant fecal odor coming from the bathroom. He directed me to request that on Sunday since people check in and out that day. So i returned on Sunday to proceed with the aforementioned request. He told me to come back Monday for the same reason. I spoke to possibly the assistant manager on Monday, he told me that he could not move me anywhere because his system was down and there was nothing he could do. This was the final straw. I called a different chain of hotel and they were able to accommodate me. I was going to stay in your hotel for 79 nights, which was about $18,000. I am sure the other company is grateful for your multiple shortcomings. I have heard of similar situations from multiple other people from your hotel. My coworker also left for similar reasons, her room was more per night. This hotel lost about $40,000. I have been a Hilton honors member for a long time, this is by far the worst experience I have ever encountered at a Hilton hotel. My company has assured me that no other employees will be staying here. There are no photos that would serve any purpose, as these were all smell related issues.

They don't clean rooms or change linens if you stay longer than one night and it appears sometimes not ever. I have been here for two weeks and they won't clean my room. I found open condoms in the nightstand drawer which leads me to believe that they didn't clean the room after the previous guest left.
