Treated myself to a wonderful trail ride at High Meadows Farm with Sue and her faithful hard working little dog pickles today. I've been to other riding barns and have worked at riding stables, I really like the way Sue runs her rides. She made everyone feel very relaxed as we prepared for our ride, taking time to groom, tack and start out in the arena so that you get to bond a little with your horse, and making sure horses and riders are ready to go out.
The trails are nice and wide and the horses were very well behaved. Will be going back again. Thank You Sue and Pickles for a great experience.

The absolute best! Sue is remarkable with the children. One of my sons used to be so shy and would never speak much in front of groups. After a year of horseback riding with Sue as his instructor he has thrived and is a different kid. She helped him gain confidence and has taught him so much about the horses. I highly recommend signing your kids up for lessons. Her barns are gorgeous and spotless with beautiful views.

I wish I could give no stars. My mom and I came from Florida on vacation - mother and daughter bonding experience. We showed up early to our slotted trail ride. A few other couples were waiting as well. Sue was preoccupied with lessons and was 16 minutes late to even introduce us to the horses, what we would be doing etc. We wouldn’t have minded if she was a little late because things happen however she was unbelievably rude: not just to us but to a gentleman who printed his waiver out. She told him to put it in the trash. My mom wanted to use the restroom because we weren’t sure when we would get that opportunity again. Sue responded with nastiness “you had plenty of time to do that before.” How RUDE. So rude not accommodating welcoming. We did not want to spend another minute around this woman and her bad energy. She came across so negative and I did not want to give her another dollar of my money. There are other stables to look into - lucky 7 unfortunately didn’t have time for us but we look forward to going there next time. Please look into them and this review before dealing with nasty Sue. Sue, please manage your time more efficiently to not take it out on your guests and riders that are just trying to have a good time.

I have to be honest I really liked the barn, horses, and the owner. However when you coming for a trail ride experience you want to spend as much time in the saddle out in the woods as possible.
We were told that the entire experience will take approximately 2 hours- and it did.
We started with the tour around the facility and introduction to the horses, the we groomed the horses, tackle them, and spen some time in arena learning how to maneuver our horses. That took about 1.5 hours. We spent 30 min in the woods with the guide WALKING on her foot in front of us! 5 more min in arena. Then un-tackled the horse, clean them up and we are done.
This might be a good intro to equestrian class, but definitely not a trail ride.

This is actually long over due and it still bugs me years later. My family and I went riding here...first trail ride of the season when we were there. I noticed Kermit was a bit antsy...pawing his hoof (obviously not the right term) at the ground over and over. I thought to myself that it was weird so i asked if he was anxious or excited. Having been around horses (in no way claiming to be a horseman), I just could tell he was jittery or amped up or whatever it was. We all get on with me of course getting Kermit. It wasn't long on this ride when one of the other horses that my boyfriend was on started getting cranky with Kermit. Kermit also was looking around on the trail quite a bit and I asked the owner at this point if he was spooked or nervous and she snidely replied, "well he's a horse." Not 1 min after this, the other horse freaked Kermit out and all I remember is being thrown right over top of Kermit. I broke the end of my finger and bruised my chest, but didn't realize this til later. Our group was stunned and I was nearly in tears. What was worse is as I was gathering myself, the owner ordered that I must get back on the horse. I was already planning on it, but to not even make sure I was fine was wild. We get back to the barn and we are working out what we owe her and this lady didn't even have the decency to comp my ride, apologize or ANYTHING. I was young and shy and too uncomfortable to stand up for myself. To this day this makes me so upset inside. It was horrible...I could never recommend this place solely because of how disgustingly I was treated. Of course accidents happen and they are ultimately animals...but the lack of sympathy and maybe a "hey, no worries on paying for getting bucked right over the top of my tallest horse" was truly unbelievable

The owner is friendly and kind. We were there for my daughter's friends birthday party. The kids had a blast and we even learned a few things about horses. I would definitely like to take my children back there some time.

Received a gift certificate for Christmas for a trail ride, and received so much morre from the experience than I ever expected. Sue and her amazing team provided us with grooming and tacking time and instruction, opportunity to choose our horses, a fun lesson and assessment of riding ability in the indoor arena prior to trail ride, a beautiful ride through snow-dusted trees that was relaxing and enjoyable. Finished with another ride in the arena, candy treats for riders and apple treats and mints for the horses after the ride. Outstanding experience all around. Sue is fun, respectful, and kind with her instruction and truly enjoys teaching riders how to improve skills according to individual riding ability. Definitely returning in the spring! Go now! You'll have a blast!

We found High Meadow Farms July 2016 when looking for something fun to do with our daughter while on vacation at our parents in Alton NH, we now drive to NH at least once a month for a double lesson with Sue, and our 5 year old daughter is attending horse shows. Sue has amazed my husband and I at how far she has taken our daughter in riding and as a little girl. When Olivia is at the Barn she has zero fear, full of confidence, and smiles. Sue combines learning horseback riding with learning in general. I only wish we lived closer to be there more often. We are looking forward to a great show season and attending summer camp this summer.
