Tour was easy to book, easy to pay, and wonderfully enjoyable. Austin was our guide and he handled the off-road with ease, watched for hazards, and provided bear guard when we stopped to enjoy treasure hunting. Great time.

Our family with kids had a great experience of touring Point Barrow in Utqiagvik with 71 North Tours today. We contacted them through their website and then worked out with them for the booking. Keep in mind that this is the only tour where they are allowed to take us to the extreme end of the US North since they are locals here and have approvals to do so. This means you are getting the most unique experience in this tour provided by 71 North tours. On the day of tour, we were first greeted by the tour operator Joni who willl meet you at your hotel. She collected payment by credit card before starting the trip. Later, the tour vehicle arrived. It's a Ford Excursion 10 seater. What's amazing is the room we had for 7 of us in the long car including our kids. We had our personal requirement to put our booster seats for both the kids which we have brought along and they allowed us. The tour itself is to take us to Point Barrow and back. After a few miles of driving, the real experience starts. This tour goes off-road and into the sands of the beach that the Artic ocean has built. You have seat belts for safety, so you don't have to worry. You will cross bones of whales, seal and also many migratory birds that perch on the ice. The best part is that we got to see a polar bear just 100 feet away from us. Our tour guide Austin is a champ who not only kept explaining about the how locals do things, but also answered tons of questions from our tour group. He will stop at safe points in the trip for you to take photos for memories to cherish. This tour is not for people who may feel sick from bumpy rides, are pregnant or have medical conditions that require you to be riding in a still position. However, this ride fits people of all ages including kids. Overall, at the end of the tour, you will feel that you received value for the money you spent. Like I said before, this tour is very unique than all other tours in the area and it's exclusively driven by the locals who have permissions to the protected area covered in the tour which other operators can't make it. So, it's worth the price you pay for.

Worked up at the hospital and was able to get out with Austin who took me out to the point. Got to see two polar bears in the distance (they were one mile away!) and an arctic fox. Wonderful experience!

Great operation if you want to get to the northern most point of the US. The bonus is you may see polar bears! We went twice with 71 north. 2nd time was no bears, but the first time was spectacular!

This tour was EXCELLENT!! Vernon was our awesome driver and guide. We were all so glad we took this tour because it really gives you a feel for the place. Something you can only appreciate by being there in person. Being there really touches your soul (in a good way!) The landscape is sureal. We saw fresh polar bear tracks, the ice float, and learned about the heritage and inupiat culture. It felt like a sacred walk among ancestors and it was an honor to step onto the land that so many have walked before. A place rich in tradition. Honestly it was otherworldly. Very moving and great tour!
