My daughter (headed into 9th grade next year) just returned from Costa Rica where she was on Spanish language trip with middle school classmates. We were so impressed with Walking Tree and its organization & communication (we loved the kid-written blog that was published during their trip!). Our kid had the most amazing time bonding with classmates & trip leaders while experiencing a different language and culture. She loved it all! It was the perfect mix of culture/service/home stay and really fun things to experience as a group. We think that this trip has set her for a lifetime of wanting to study abroad while in school and travel as an adult.

We had two of our three kids participate in Walking Tree Travel trips to Costa Rica this summer; a high school trip for two weeks and a middle school trip for ten days. Both of our daughters had an absolutely wonderful time on their respective trips. The trips offered just the right balance of very meaningful service work and lots of pure fun and adventure. Our kids were able to improve their Spanish skills, meet new people and enjoy all the beautiful nature and scenery Costa Rica has to offer. Prior to the trips, we had Zoom meetings with Gabriel who provided loads of of information and great tips for both trips. Our youngest child is already asking when they can go on a Walking Tree Travel trip - hopefully that will happen in a few years. We highly recommend this company!

Our son spent two weeks in Costa Rica with other students taking Spanish at his high school. He had a truly amazing experience that has motivated him to do more traveling, to continue his Spanish studies, and to seek out other immersive experiences that include living with families and becoming involved in a community. It has been a life-changing experience for him! The Walking Tree program was very organized and the communication with parents while students were abroad was excellent. We appreciated hearing stories from the trip via the daily updates on the blog and seeing all the great photos. Thank you to the Walking Tree team for such a formative experience for our child!

Our son traveled to Spain with his middle school and had the time of his life! The trip was very well organized. The activities were amazing (nice to have a well rounded experience of museums, hiking, exploration, cooking, flamenco, everything!). We also enjoyed the blog and the fact that the students were responsible for putting it together with photos and text. Highly recommend Walking Tree Travel!

My son spent 2 weeks in Costa Rica with other 10th grade Spanish students through Walking Tree Travel this June, and it was an incredible and formative experience for him! He came back willing (and able!) to speak Spanish to us at home for the first time, seems more mature and self-confident since the trip, and can't wait to travel again! The group travel experience was very well organized, including the work opportunity and living with a host family. I highly recommend this organization without reservations!

My daughter traveled to Italy with a group from her school and loved it! We found the trip to be incredibly organized from the start and very affordable. She traveled with a different teen travel group last summer and we were "nickle and dimed" for every little thing. This is NOT the case with Walking Tree at all! What she paid for upfront covered all of her costs on the trip and we were surprised with how much she was able to do for the cost overall. We will definitely consider another trip for our younger kids in the future. As a teacher, I would also consider hosting my own trip through Walking Tree. The communication, response time, organization, and especially the on-location guide were all top-notch! Highly recommend this travel group!

We are so grateful that our son's school chose Walking Tree to plan, schedule, and book their school's service trip this year. Our son had an eye-opening and incredible experience on his service trip with members from his school. Our son is very quiet, but wrote so much in a post about his time. It struck me how much it meant to him helping a family to rebuild their home. It showed him just what he has back in the Continental US, yet he was so glad to see the joy and gratitude of the people he met. He said he wants to do this service trip again if there is room next year. We are so grateful our son's school chose Walking Tree Travel for their service trip.

Our daughter just travelled to Costa Rica with WalkingTree and her High School Spanish Program and came home a changed person. After a long and painful year of watching our daughter minimize herself and retreat from life, this trip was truly a godsend. Our kids just don't know how to expand into life post-covid and this trip taught the whole group how to do that. They experienced the joy and power of face-to-face real life, instead of subsisting on a virtual life via their phones. They discovered the spectacular beauty of crazy thunderstorms, had amazing candlelit dinner conversations during evening power outages, got some tough lessons about the importance of sunscreen (!), and how to dry out clothing in a really wet and humid climate. Yes, there were gorgeous tropical waterfalls, and surfing, and river rafting, and learning about the Spanish language and culture but the personal growth our daughter experienced was the true learning experience of this trip for her. We are beyond grateful for this experience!
