This is an excellent place to stay when visiting Canyon de Chelly. It was clean and the bed was comfortable, and the temperature control in the room was good. There is a restaurant at the lodge which has typical food choices, including the tasty fry bread. It is located just outside the entrance to Canyon de Chelly. The tour we took started at this lodge and the tour was a wild ride! It was conducted by a local native american guide and the tour was absolutely excellent.

Our King Suite room (#9) was spacious and comfy. The property is older but authentic. Enormous Cottonwood trees and shady lawns evoke travel experiences of past era.

Be sure not to miss booking a canyon tour; an all-day tour if possible. The Dine guides are friendly and knowledgeable. You learn much more than an overlook can provide.

There aren’t many lodging options in Chinle, and this is the one!

All the staff at Thubderbird Lodge were so friendly, welcoming and helpful. As a solo traveler (f), I felt very safe, I enjoyed my room and the bed was very comfy. The rooms feature a fridge, microwave and a coffee machine. Internet was very good. The Thunderbird Cafeteria is right next door, I highly recommend the blue corn pancakes for breakfast! I also could not recommend more the guided tours of the beautiful Canyon de Chelly offered through Thunderbird Lodge. I spent the whole afternoon on the tour and I had the very best time seeing the cliff dwellings, pictorgraphs and the incredible nature of the canyon.

Very comfortable. We stayed in room 9. If you can get that, do it. It’s a little single building with a large living area, separate bedroom. The cafeteria on the property is very basic. Bring food with you. Bring water as well since the water there can smell like sulphur. No alcohol allowed in the Navajo Nation. The sights are amazing!

We stayed two days. We did the Canyon 4 hour tour with Elton. He was great! Our room was clean, comfortable and spacious. It is a historic lodge & the price was great for our two queen room. The breakfast was great and in line with what we paid in Grand Canyon, Antelope Canyon, etc for food. We really enjoyed the trading post and made purchases. They staff was friendly during our stay. We have no complaints.

The bed was great. The refrigerator hardly made a sound and we appreciated having it as we were on an extended trip. The folks at the main desk were great. The water pressure was barely adequate and it had been many years since the facilities were updated.

Having stayed here before we knew what to expect. Not an exactly welcoming reception but just the way they are.|Room clean but looking old and battered. Comfortable enough for 2 days with room being refreshed every day. |Ate in the cafe on site both evenings as could not be bothered to go elsewhere. Very generous helpings with special of the day and economical in price.|Although an older hotel - much more character than the other bland looking hotels in town and at the very entrance to the Canyon.

The stay was okay. The quiet of the area was much appreciated. Rooms are small; furniture is old and oversized for room size. Shower works well and bathroom was clean. Shampoo and conditioner in wall of tub shower but shampoo was completely empty. For the price compared to other hotels in area I expected just a little more. Onsite cafeteria was good and offered a variety of food options and cafeteria staff really tried to please you.
