It's like stepping back in time into an elegantly appointed home, replete with antiques including an old CD player, grand piano, artwork, and many books. The area has historical sights, wildlife and farm animals, all of which lend a peaceful and interesting aspect to your surroundings. Due to the remote setting, there are spiders, mice and the evidence that mice have been in the house.

It is like staying in a museum or an old library. There must be hundreds of books on bookshelves and stacked on tables. Since there is no internet or cell service, you will enjoy passing the time looking through the many books. The antiques found in all the rooms, make you feel like you stepped back in time to the old west. The old fashioned country kitchen takes you back 100 years with its long family style table and wood burning cook stove. Although the wood burning cook stove is not operable, there is an old fashioned gas range for cooking. The tranquil sound of the creek 50 yards away is
a huge plus as you enjoying your morning coffee on the very rustic back deck. The peace and tranquility of Unionville gives the place a 10 star rating.

Positive: Stop over here if you prefer to meet some warm, welcoming, traveled people over staying at a soulless motel. The hosts are incredibly friendly, and we very much enjoyed having Mitzi’s breakfast all together with the neighbors. We now understand a bit more what it’s like to live in the desert. The drive itself to the place is a bit of an adventure - and we felt a bit lost on the dirt road at night with no lights nowhere to be seen. Google Maps will get you there safely though. We were fascinated by the old houses and enjoyed watching a VHS movie (Mrs. Doubtfire!) on a tiny TV like in the good ol’ days. Highly recommended and would always go back..

This BnB was great. I stayed two nights. Spent most of my time sitting on back deck watching birds. At the time another guest and I had a house to ourselves. This includes kitchen. We each had our own bathroom. To me this was very nice.
Living ghost towns are interesting in that you can step back in time and also see the newer buildings of the present day.l highly recommend Unionville. David, his mom, Larry and David's very affectionate dog are most kind.
Down by the freeway your phone can pick up cell service. The trading post serves good food as well as TA travelers truck plaza. Everyone I encountered was friendly. I would definitely like to return.

We are travelling from Utah to Tahoe. I wanted to break the drive up and try something a bit different for the night. This place is like going back in time. I had only been there for about 20 minutes when I realized I had mad a big mistake. I should have stayed here for 3 days and never gone to Tahoe! 😉

I also decided I had to plan a 3-5 day trip to fully experience this gem of Western history.

A few things you may want to know before you go, this place is located on a gravel road right in the middle of a ghost town called Unionville. There are no services of any kind so make sure you have enough gas and stop for dinner before you arrive. I recommend the RV park on the south side freeway exit. There is no cell service for 20 miles and no WiFi so plan on getting unplugged.

We spent 2 hours at breakfast chatting with the owner (she made breakfast and is 91 at the time of this writing) and her son Dave.

The family stories as well as the stories about Unionville (had a population of over 20,000 at one time, Mark Twain was once a resident, ask Dave about Twain's neighbor) will keep you captivated for hours.

This is a must see location a true once in a lifetime experience...unless you also plan on going back as I do.

Cool bed and breakfast. The old 1860s buildings have been restored and are comfortable. The charm of this place is wonderful. The owners are nice people and fill of good information. The breakfast is good old fashioned American breakfast. I really enjoyed the waffles. I would recommend anyone looking to get away at last check this place out. My girl friend and I absolutely loved it and plan on coming back in the future.

Nice hideaway away from the crowds and freeway. About 18 miles from I80 and 3 miles of gravel road, but very quiet and secluded. Spent two nights here and enjoyed the solitude. Very old buildings, but nicely appointed, quite comfortable and peaceful. Breakfast prepared each morning by the owner (Mitzi) which were excellent. It is out in the country, so if close freeway access is important to you a better choice would be in town (Winnemucca).
