We loved our stay at The Butler! Picked as is dog friendly, and rooms are nice. More of the adult crowd - parking is a bit tight, & limited to first come. There’s some coffee spots and food selections within walking distance, but will probably want a car to go downtown. Nice palette and enjoyed the complimentary wine and desserts!

Clean modern hotel with nice mid-century decor. I enjoyed the ease of the contactless check-in. They even let us check-in several hours early which was nice because we had our bags with us. It's in a pretty convenient location, about a 15 minute walk to downtown and it has it's own private parking lot for free. The room was on the smaller side, but everything was new and clean, and the bed was comfortable. The walls were thin though and you could hear everyone in the common area. I liked the convenience of the self serve coffee area with an option of a french press or several teas. The breakfast could use some improvement though, for the price of the hotel a better spread was expected. It would have been nice to have some dairy-free milk or creamer options. They provided some fruit and what seemed to be some Costco type pastries, it would have been nice to have some local fresh pastries and again some dairy free options.

Came to SLO for my wife’s birthday and couldn’t have been happier with our decision to stay at The Butler Hotel. This was a new type of stay for us as there is no front desk, however once we walked in we immediately understood that this property was special and didn’t require one. They email and text you the code to the front fore and the code to your room. Upon walking in we were shocked at how nice everything looked and the attention to detail with the design. There was a bottle of wine and local treats on the bar, and cute little reading/sitting area, and the interior design was amazing.

As for the room, we loved the tall ceilings, lighting, and bathroom design. Everything just seemed to flow well.

I would definitely recommend this place!

Our stay at The Butler was wonderful. This unique spot is a must experience concept in SLO. Kelly is the best. She absolutely took care of us during our stay. The hotel itself was gorgeous. Clean, trendy, masculine. The decor was elegant meets industrial. The king room #3 was spacious and had a gorgeous bathroom. The products in the shower were great. Regarding the noise level, I’d definitely say that it was not bad at all. Considering that you are sleeping on a main intersection there were only a few times that I could feel the rumble of a large truck passing. We both slept great considering. ||||Our complaint was that the room that we stayed in lacked proper airflow, making it warmer that we would have preferred it during the night, even with the AC at it’s lowest setting. Perhaps a fan would have been the answer. The main area of the building was a great temperature (just wish our room felt like that). ||||All in all I’d have to give this hotel a 5. Our parents live in SLO so we will definitely be booking again in the future.

The Butler Hotel... best kept secret in SLO!!!|We just spent our 23rd Wedding Anniversary at the Bulter Hotel in SLO. Four nights in a beautiful room with lovely accommodation's. This boutique hotel was not only charming, modern and exceptionally clean, but the Hotel Manager (Kelly) has outstanding customer service and answered any questions with promptness and kindness. I noticed a comment about being a bit pricey compared to other hotels in the area. I feel it was right on the mark as far as cost. Easy access using a personal door code, Continental breakfast (French press coffee, fruit and individual granola packets), 13 minute walk to downtown SLO and free parking. Kelly even delivered clean towels and additional soaps and shampoos on the 3rd day.|A nice outdoor patio for warmer evenings and equally nice indoor area for cooler evenings. Spoke to other hotel occupants and all were so happy with the accommodations.|We were so pleased with the Butler Hotel. We will be back and will tell our friends about this amazing hotel! Thank you Kelly and the Butler Hotel!||Lorraine K - Boise, Idaho|

I am a regular traveler to SLO, and I ALWAYS choose The Butler Hotel. Kelly and staff are welcoming, and really go out of their way to make sure I am 100% satisfied with my stay each and every time. Whenever I had a pressing issue, the staff would be there within 5 minutes or so to assist me. I have stayed in every room, and while all are awesome in their own way, my favorite rooms are 3 and 4, specifically because of the bed size and location within the hotel--right in the corner and away from everything. I find the outside noise minimal, and actually, I prefer it over absolute silence, as it adds to the ambience. I always eat the granola breakfast packets each morning--they are delicious. The complementary wine is also excellent. This is easily my favorite place, because there is no check-in at the front desk--it's an automated hotel where you put in a code and you get into the hotel and into your room. Very very easy. The only suggestion I have for the hotel is to incorporate a microwave, given that I often have leftovers to reheat from a previous meal, and that amenity would be very helpful. Easily a 10/10 and the best hotel in SLO. Don't waste your money and time looking elsewhere, come to the Butler.

We loved everything about our stay at The Butler. What a unique, clean, quiet and charming place to spend an anniversary get-away. We have always walked by this unique boutique hotel and wondered what it would be like to stay. It was just as private and romantic on the inside as it is on the outside. We felt like we had the hotel to ourselves, from the moment we arrived to the moment we left we never saw another guest. We chatted under the lights in the patio. Our room was perfect for our little getaway and Kelly left us yummy local beer and a cocktail that was so yummy. From the coffee press, gorgeous bathroom and the super comfy bed...we will be back again soon.

There's a reason this place gets almost all 5 star reviews- it's honestly perfect. If there was a rooftop pool I'd want to move in.
It's definitely different. If you love the experience of staying at a hotel, this might not be for you. If you want the feel of an AirBnB with the hotel touches, this is the place. If you like great design, thoughtful touches but don't want to interact with people, this is the place.
There is a contactless check-in, you simply punch in your special code. The bar area is set up with complimentary wine in the afternoon and a nice continental breakfast spread in the morning (little Danishes that tasted so fresh, muffins, fruit, etc). There is a lounge area with beautiful seating, a record player with great albums.
We stayed in Room 4 and the bed was so comfortable. The bathroom was clean and spacious. Every detail is well thought out.
The main area was a bit warm during the day with a large fan running, but our room was perfectly ACed.
We took advantage of the bikes and cruised around the downtown area, all the way to Madonna Inn and to the SLOMA. We also sat outside in the morning with our coffees, which you can prepare with the french presses set up in the kitchen.
I don't have plans to be in SLO again, but if I did, I would 100% stay here again.
Kelly was The Butler and so helpful with any questions we had. Thanks Kelly!
