Sunset Ranch Cabins - Pagosa Springs, Colorado

My family and I stayed in the River Run cabin for three nights, the weekend of Sept 13th, 2020.|||| Overall, the cabin was very comfortable, spotlessly clean, and has a lovely patio area. ||||Each morning, we would take our hot drinks and sit outside, listening to the river while watching a wide variety of birds flitting through the trees. ||||The bathroom has shower and tub.  The bedroom has a large dresser and we slept well on the comfortable bed.||||The small, albeit serviceable l kitchen had an electric range, fridge, pantry, and microwave oven  There is also a very nice BBQ grill adjacent to the patio.||||The little electric fireplace kept us toasty warm in the evenings when temperatures cooled off. There is also a  television with DVD player and several movies available to watch.||||The WiFi was adequate to check emails, however we spent so much time walking along the San Juan River, hiking and checking out the town that we rarely needed it.||||There are three very friendly dogs, a German Shepard, Golden Lab and cute little mutt who run around the property and my grandchildren loved playing with them. ||||The managing family was quite friendly and we felt well cared for. We inquired about their sanitizing practices and felt they went above and beyond in this area.||||We will definitely stay at Sunset Ranch again, in the future, and highly recommend it to anyone who wants to visit Archuleta County, specifically the Pagosa Springs area.||

We stayed in the River Ranch Cabin. I can not say enough positive things about the atmosphere, scenery, and most importantly Amanda and her husband. From the moment you drive up you are greeted with a smile and a wave by humans and dogs. Amanda checked us in and basically left us alone to enjoy the property. If we needed anything they quickly answered and were always so polite. The cabin was just perfect with amazing views. You can walk the property. The property has a pond and access to the river. We brought our dog and they definitely are a dog friendly place.

We just loved the Sunset Ranch and The Rock House! Richie is the best personal concierge ever, and he works for ear skitches and big belly rubs!! He waited on our porch for us each morning, to make sure we knew where to be. We loved that we could fish both their stocked lake or their private access points on the river, so many great spots! Both the ranch owners and hostess with the mostest, Amanda, went out of their way to make us feel like more than guests, we felt at home. I highly recommend their ranch if you find yourself near Pagosa. We would definitely stay there again!

We spent four nights in the Rock House cabin at Sunset Ranch. Our trip was with our son and his family who rented the cabin next door, the Cedar Cabin (I think that's the name). Both were spacious and clean with full kitchens, washer/dryers, dishwashers and good beds. Theirs had bunk beds and a double in one bedroom and a queen in the second. Ours had a king bed. The small kids had a blast and so did the adults. Though it is close to the highway, there is absolutely no noise and you really don't even notice it. Gas fireplaces made them cozy at night, too. We had bonfires two nights, the little family enjoyed the paddle boat, too. There's a little "fort" for imaginary play, chickens to check out, Canada geese on the large pond and a tire swing our little ones loved.. We had a great time! Highly recommend. For a couple, there is a lovely third cabin up on a bluff overlooking the river.

Amanda meet us right when we arrived and was super nice and have is the rundown of the property. 1 mile of private river frontage on the San Juan was awesome to hear.

We started in the river cabin with an amazing view over the river. Ritchie the Golden Retriever was an excellent fishing companion. My nephew caught a 20" rainbow right away. Unfortunately it rained hard that night and blew out the river for the rest of our stay although we were able to catch a few more browns and rainbows.

The private pond is full of bass and perch which were a lot of fun.

These are cabins so it's not the Ritz but it was perfect for what we were looking for. We will definitely be back!

For us, the Sunset Ranch was a perfect location. It is a little bit out of town and right on the San Juan River. Being on the river was important to us for the fishing opportunities.||The cabin was a good size for us and was clean. It was a one-bedroom cabin overlooking the river. The scenery was amazing. The owners were very nice and their pets were friendly.||They are recycle-friendly and provide bins on the property for recyclable items. There's a list on the refrigerator on what is recyclable.||||This was the first time we rented a cabin where some things were not part of the deal, which we had to purchase on our own. Since these things had always been in cabins I've rented in the past, I didn't think to ask about them beforehand. So, if you are considering this location, you will need to bring the following items:||Paper Towels||Foil (for use on the outdoor grill or whatever..)||ZipLoc bags (if you use them)||Coffee.||Not a big deal... but like I said, I've been accustomed to those items being provided and at this location, they are not.||||Overall, a nice location with easy access to town and other sights.

Summer 2018 we drove to Pagosa with 2 horses, a Jack Russell Terrier and our LQ horse trailer. We used the electric and water for our LQ trailer. Options for stall/run or large arena to keep horses. Easy access off Highway 160. Need to have shower/toilet in your LQ trailer, although guests may use a port-a-potty. Community Center a short drive away has showers and flushing toilets if needed. There’s a nice laundromat in town if you need it. Owners were very nice and accommodating. There are places to ride on or near ranch and also close to many forest service trail heads (but check out those trail heads with just your vehicle first). Internet is available but the way our trailer was parked, was not steady (which is true for many places in Pagosa). I think you may also choose to stay in a cabin and guests may still board horses there. Overall an excellent experience and we would return.

We are locals. My eldest granddaughter and her fiance, and half the family, spent a year saving for them to be married here. It is a gorgeous site! The contract was complete, with no surprises about the amount of people, or the band, or anything. Members of the bridal party were staying in the few cabins there and were paid in full. The kids and their parents did all of the set up, and clean up. I was there the day before, delivering last minute items. The owner, Greg Schick, was having a meltdown about there being three vehicles in front of the cabins. We moved them.The site for the ceremony was on a hill area and was supposed to be mowed. It wasn't, do Dad drove to town and got the weed eater and did it himself. The day after the wedding (which was lovely!) Greg threw a huge rant about the grass where the dance had been and demanded several hundred dollars more. There was no damage done. The family was so irritated, they left, of course without receiving any refund for the nights they didn't stay. In fact, they didn't even ask for it. My son discovered the weed eater had been left there a few weeks later and returned to get it. He finally had to start dialing the Sheriff's Dept to get it back. It is a lovely place, and seems to be fine if you're just passing through. We've since talked to others who have used the ranch for events and this is typical. So, spent the night, but there are other venues for weddings and events.
