We booked a cabin-type room based on the lovely images online. When we arrived, we were told the room was having plumbing issues so we would be in an "upgraded room" with a kitchen. The room was like a small apartment and it was UNDER the main building/office. It was dark and creepy. I told the clerk I didn't want to stay in the underground bunker and he continued to tell me it was an upgrade. It was late and we had no other option, so we unwillingly agreed. The only + was it seemed fairly clean. There was no A/C and it had been in the high 90's that day, so it was sweltering. Definitely didn't feel comfortable leaving windows open. There was a fan we used, which helped minimally. I have never seen a motel use a flat sheet as a fitted and additionally, have no mattress pad on the bed. As a result, the sheet moved throughout the night and I would awake to notice I was lying on the mattress itself. Gross. Total disappointment with no offer of our money back or any compensation because, again, "the room was an upgrade". There was a copy of our "room" next to us and it appeared someone lived there. Absolutely not the cute, woodsy cabin we had booked. The motel should have called us earlier in the day and informed of the situation so we could have checked other places nearby. It does have a great restaurant next door and sits walking distance to several fun shops, bakery, etc.

There are so many different sites that give reviews for this motel so I will be copying and pasting on all of them because of how great I found the stay there to be. I personally found this Motel very nice and the people there are very helpful and friendly. I normally do not write reviews, but I just had to point out the things that I found quite pleasant while staying there. || I arrived at the motel with family, and we went to the main office to check in. The front office guy had checked us in and then had personally walked us to our room. Normally you are told what room number you are in and are handed a key and you are off trying to find which room you are in, but not here. | After entering the room and settling for about 20 min I noticed that there was a puddle of water that had leaked from the air conditioner that is in the room. I saw the cleaning lady and asked her if there was a mop or anything I can use to clean it up with. She immediately apologized and dropped what she was doing and helped personally clean up the water in the room. Then had told me that if there is anything else I need during my stay to just let them know. | At checkout time we were walking out, and we saw a teenage boy walking towards us. He had politely said hello and had asked if we saw the cleaning lady which I believe is his mother. we had stated we have not but then he asked us if we needed help with carrying our bags. We had a good amount of luggage so we said sure that would be very helpful. The young man carried everything we had and helped load into our car. We thanked him for his assistance and then he had wished us a safe trip home. It was a very nice ending for our trip. ||My Rating for our trip goes as follows:||*Staff- Excellent||*Cleanliness- Good (Clean but could use some a fresh paint on the baseboards. it can give off the appearance of not being clean, but it was clean)||*Environment- Excellent||I would recommend this motel to anyone who wants a nice peaceful stay in the mountains. And will be booking another stay there in August!

The scenery is breathtaking and the cabins are really cozy. The heaters are a blessing as well. Only issue was the WiFi, it kept going out during the night and into the early morning (possibly due to weather). The guy working there was very quick to respond and very friendly. Absolutely check this place out

We stayed on a holiday weekend in winter and for less than $100 a night, my husband and I both agreed they’re not charging enough! Our 2 bedroom/one bath unit with full kitchen was spacious and priced way below comparable accommodations in the area. I was hesitant to book based on price and lack of reviews, but we’d absolutely stay here again. For reference we were in a lower unit (room 6), are a family of 4 and brought our dog (extra $30 per stay). The good: plenty of space! There was even a mud room which was excellent for sleds and snow gear. Heater worked well, plenty of hot water, big tv in living area, kitchen had basics (but bring extra cups/plates and any seasonings) and fridge was clean. It had a little outdoor yard area that was full of snow and enough room to do a little sledding. Outside was well lit, which felt safe for late night dog potty breaks. Parking was close to even the furthest rooms and check in was easy. TV had streaming. Just steps away from the local market, a great cafe which we stopped at for breakfast and dinner, and a solid pizza joint. There’s also a couple Mexican places on the same block, although we didn’t try them. Less than .5 mi to the local school with parking and sledding on the weekends! The bad: Check in was 3pm and we arrived 3:45, still had to wait 15 min for room to be ready (manager was apologetic), ever so slight sewer funk in the bathroom, I couldn’t really smell anything, but my husband kept the door closed. Floors were vinyl plank and could have been cleaned better, but we just wore socks/slippers. Although the unit had been updated, the floors were uneven in places, some paint peeling, and some of the kitchen drawers were struggling to stay on their tracks. Couch was new, but not comfortable. Both mattresses were lacking a protector and had a top sheet that was used on the bottom, but overall clean and not the most comfortable. Pillows were pretty flat, I’d consider bringing my own. Unit was otherwise clean. The walls were thin, so we heard movement from above. The other guests were quiet and weren’t up late, but I could see this being a problem if they weren’t. All things considered, this is a great option for families wanting something bigger than a hotel room, convenient location, walkability, pet friendly and won’t set you back several hundred like other accommodations in the area. If you’re picky, this is not the place for you. We typically spend over $1000 on our annual snow accommodations, but had to scale finances back this year and were satisfied with Sherwood Arms and felt it was a tremendous value at $270 for 2 nights including taxes and the pet fee. Our 9 and 6 yr olds thought this place was amazing! Bonus was only driving 25 min up the hill and skipping most of the Big Bear traffic on a busy holiday weekend. Close to snowdrift tubing and easy access to big Bear and lake arrowhead. Photo is of the back of property, located right outside room 6

Cabin in the woods for much lower then competition tonight. Exceeded expectations, my room was upgraded. Some rooms have a stove, this one has a mini fridge, sink, desk with leather chair, big screen TV, outdoor seating area(see photo), and a microwave. Good stop for a work trip as most places around here don’t have desks.

This place is beautiful, Zach the front desk clerk is amazing he's got great customer service and made my kids and I feel extremely welcome. Answers your call 24/7 if calling front desk and I can honestly say I had such a great time with my kids there . The only negative is based on location yes the shopping for groceries is pricy but location is perfect for a weekend trip or just because. I strongly recommend this place and trust me if Zach is there you'll be extremely happy with their service.
We definitely are going back
Yes it's a beautiful view from all windows and kid friendly. Nature at its best AND THEY HAVE FREE WI-FI.

We got room #7 quite nice! Only complaint is the bed is so hard!. But over all everything worked, oven, stove, microwave and fridge. Small but it fit us 4 lol we brought an air mattress for our little kids . Motel was next to hill so awesome spot to sled, next to really big Christmas tree with lights. Awesome! Owners and workers were polite and always around to help. Ohh bring your own towels I must say because we had only 1 in our room. Safe travels! Have fun! Thanks Sherwood motel!
Also pet fees are $40 to bring your furry one along to enjoy the snow ❄️.

Why is the front door so hard to open/close in room #8 ?
Overall decent motel. Good parking, convenient location next to a gas station, and quiet enough. Adjustable thermostat and an extra blanket for warmth. Nothing else really outside your standard motel outside of the fact there's a 60" smart tv and King size bed.
Comfy for a couple though!
Would give 4 stars but the door being so inconvenient, this alone is worth a star only because the door will not actually shut without the automatic deadbolt locking into place but you have to put a lot of force to align it with the deadbolt hole
