The room was dirty and smelled musty and Damp. The male owner is a horrible owner, such attitude and just very rude. His wife was showing me receipts and was all fumbled and I caught that I was overcharged a hundred dollars because she messed up the dates. She also smelled of booze and seemed to be under the influence. Just a horrible experience and I will figure out how to report them. I was actually frightened by his attitude when I simply asked to have fresh bedding and towels put in my room. He laughed rudely and said I'm being too picky. I can't believe they are not getting the police called on them for his anger. The place should be sold to a nicer couple. I highly recommend staying somewhere else.

If I could have went negative for stars I would have. The place is dirty, musty, and just a sour smell to the rooms. I asked for a different room and it was the same problem. I then asked for the room to be cleaned and bedding changed. Not able to and the guy that runs it...omg so rude and loud and just an angry person. Like it's our fault he hates his life .by far the worst service I have ever had and will figure out how I report them for a major safety inspection.

My husband and I stayed at the Royal Oaks Motel recently while visiting Horicon Marsh. I'd never before stayed in a motel like this one. It's out in the country, but not far from the town. The owners live onsite. The rooms are in a row. There is nothing fancy about this motel. It is quite basic and rather dated, yet it's clean and includes WiFi and DirectTV. Given that we stayed there for $50 a night, that's not bad. I was charmed by its quaintness and being able to sit at a picnic table and see a barn across the road. The sodas in the machine were only fifty cents--which I haven't seen for quite awhile. The owners and the woman who cleans the rooms were all friendly and welcoming. The bed was comfortable. It was kind of like going back in time a bit. I liked it and would go back in a heartbeat.

My husband and I had a nice weekend here while visiting the marsh. It was very clean and the staff was all friendly and helpful. It has a charming rustic atmosphere that fits well with the town and the marsh. We will definitely be staying again.

I have stayed in a multitude of motels in my life. This is one of the best places I've ever stayed. Owners are absolutely outstanding and they are pet friendly. Internet and t.v. is perfect. I can't say enough about how great this place is. I will stay here again when I am in the area. I have two daughters here and live in Jacksonville Florida. I will stay here and visit my children when the need arises. Absolutely best place in area for price versus location.

Great place to stay, country feeling, nice family run motel. Rooms were cozy and very clean. Good shower and thick towels! They had just decorated for Halloween. The owner recommended some places in town for us to have dinner and a drink. A very nice experience!

Having stayed at hundreds of motels during my extensive travels throughout the U.S and Central America I rate this hotel up high on the list of places I have been, I can be a bit of a Ebenezer Scrooge when it comes to getting a hotel room, in these hard economic times, it can be challenging to find a decent hotel that will offer a weekly rate at a economic rate. I often have to stop at many places before I find something.||However, I got a bit lucky when I pulled into the Royal Oaks Motel. ||The owners gave me a rate I was very pleased with and the room was equally as pleasing. It is not unlike being in a mini luxury mountain cabin. Flat screen TV, direct TV, strong internet signal, comfortable bedding and words cannot express how much I love the heater, It gets cold in Wisconsin! ||||The room has a microwave, fridge and a big parking lot that is well lit at night. There are picnic tables out front and the property is well landscaped The hotel is a short drive to the nature trails at the Horicon Marsh. Horicon is a very small city with a population of about 3,000 people. It is almost like taking a trip back in time to the good Old Days in the 1970's. I cannot remember the last time I did not have to pre- pay for gas. You can go to the Horicon Park and hike in the nature trails without paying money?! I do not run across that scenario very often. ||||This would be a good budget hotel to stay at for a lone traveler such as myself, a couple or a family. I highly recommend staying here.
