Amazing trip on 7/25/24 out to the Isles of Shoals! I had never been diving in New England so wasn’t sure about gear or what to expect and the whole experience was fantastic. Rented gear was comfortable and in good working order, staff were helpful, and the dive was beautiful. Everything beat my expectations, from the gear to the seals! Can’t wait to do it again or join for one of their shore dives!

Great place to visit and chat, and they offer lots of classes. I dinged them a star because their website is woefully inadequate for today's consumer. I'm in the market for a new BC and dry suit but whenever I clicked on the "retail" link all I got was the error message, "Looks like you drifted into uncharted waters." This happened on all their retail links. As a result, I moved on. They lost a potential $2,000-$3,000 sale, just because they can't be bothered to update their website.

I was visiting Portsmouth in mid May and called for info on easy dive sites and to price rental gear. I was pleasantly surprised when the owner, Chuck, offered to join us! No way i could turn down that offer!!!! There is nothing like diving with a local and Chuck was fantastic. His rental gear was top notch, brand new for the up coming season and priced fair. Terry at the shop was a fantastic help getting us geared up and answering our questions. She was very knowledgeable and fun to work with. I look forward to many more encounters with Portsmouth Scuba. Great dive shop, as an active duty military member I enjoying my time at this dive shop. They work around my schedule for scheduling dives that worked for me. I was able to continue my PADI diver training and certification with my advanced dive and rescue diver course as well as 3 additional specialty courses. Dick and his staff are informative, respectful and positive addition to his team and always helped me with any equipment questions or anything I needed. I have had worked with 3 other really good dive shops, but none of them had the trifecta Portsmouth Scuba has, great instructors, great store knowledge and customer service and an instructors available to schedule dives. I would highly encourage anyone whom is interested to take that first step and try out diving in the open water course. For those whom do find the diving bug it opens up a whole new world of diving that can be done around the world.

Active duty and veterans recommended checking your military friendly resources availability through TA or such programs as Operation Blue pride, Force Blue and Patriots for disabled divers. Also know that PADI has a %15 discount for any eLearning courses you take.

I have, very recently, began learning to dive. I chose Portsmouth Scuba for the education and experience. It was a great choice!
The staff is knowledgeable, friendly and helpful.
Instructors are experienced, patient and focused on the students learning style. The instructor team (instructors and divemasters) teach in a methodic progression of skills to certify a person as an open water diver.

From a pricing perspective, Portsmouth Scuba is very reasonable for what is provided (customer service, experience, knowledge).
Rental equipment is top notch and the staff is very focused on ensuring the equipment is right for you.

If you ever wanted to get certified as an open water diver, continue your diving education, or pickup some new equipment, the team as Portsmouth Scuba is a top notch choice.

Highly recommend this dive shop! They have a very friendly, organized shop staff, excellent equipment, and top-notch instructors/guides. My husband and I were nervous about our first coldwater dive, and they were soooo patient and helpful and made us feel very safe. We are new divers in general, used to diving in the Caribbean and FL in shorties, with minimal weight, and were feeling very challenged with the thick dive suits, low visibility, and buoyancy issues! They had our backs, gave us lots of tips, and brought us back to focus. I was impressed with the DM in training(Ashley), who pretty much helped me with everything and encouraged me when I was feeling overwhelmed. The instructor (Steve, I think) was a real educator, reminding us of important buddy skills, among many other things. As new divers without our own gear, we deal with different dive shops all over, and when there are gems, I believe it is important to speak up!

Just nothing short of an amazing dive shop, huge assortment of scuba equipment with fantastic classes and instructors. Highly professional and knowledgeable - I absolutely recommend them. They are incredible at training divers at all ages. What an awesome experience we've had and we look forward to taking higher level classes with Portsmouth Scuba!
