Mo's Carriages and Trail Rides - Billingsley, Alabama

I was looking for horseback riding near Birmingham and came across Mo’s Carriages and Trail Rides. I called to get more info and reserved a day to go riding with a group of friends for my birthday. The owner requests that you call the day of hours before your reservation to confirm your ride, which I did. I had a group of seven including myself.

The GPS took us all to a cabin building on a ranch in Clanton. Someone gave us directions to drive further down a dirt road to the actual trails. We met Moses (“Mo”) who was finishing up a ride from another group. He assigned us to our horses and helped each of us saddle up. He even had boots for those who needed proper shoes.

My friends and I had a GREAT time! Moses was friendly, had a great personality, and captured lots of video footage and photos for us. He coached us as we were riding the horses and told us stories. He led the group in a “Happy Birthday” song for me and was a wonderful host.

He guided us on how to handle the reigns when going up the hill and down the hill and leading the horses. We galloped and rode probably four miles on the trail. The horses were very well trained and are used to people. They fell in line and knew their places in the pack.

It was a wonderful and memorable experience. My friends and I would love to do it again. I highly recommend Mo’s.

The only thing is we needed a quick horse lesson before the trail ride because we were all beginners and relatively new to handling horses. But five stars for the experience, the owner’s friendliness, and how he showed us a great time. I had a great birthday. Thank you so much!

My daughter found Mo’s online and we called to get information. Mo was very informative when we talked. He gave us instructions on how the day of the ride would look.

When we arrived, Mo instructed us to the exact location on his ranch. My daughter has had lots of horse riding experience but Mo trained her in how to handle his horses. This was like nothing we have ever experienced. We had an incredible time! Mo spent well beyond the time we booked just having fun with us, teaching us, and telling stories. He praised my daughter for how great she was doing and she learned more about riding in a couple of hours than she did in years of training! Mo played music, took videos, and showed us a wonderful time!

If you want to ride horses, learn about horses, have a great time, and make a new friend, Mo’s is the place to go!

Phenomenal experience! I am so glad my family booked a private trail ride with Mo's Carriages and Trail Rides! We got to meet Mo and he was so good about making sure we were all comfortable and ready to ride! Being from the city, this was my first time ever on a horse! I should have been nervous but in reality, I was ready to go!!! Mo and his horses were really good at making me feel safe, secure and ready to ride! My family and I are so glad we went riding and could make this wonderful memory! We now have a new tradition when I come into town to visit! Absolutely would recommend this for any and everyone!

I had an incredible time embarking on my first horseback ride at MO’s Carriages and Trail Rides. Moses, our guide, was exceptionally reassuring, ensuring my group and I felt completely comfortable and well-cared for. His guidance was top-notch, putting us at ease. The horses were wonderfully trained and calm. I even got to feed Daisy, my horse, which helped me feel more relaxed on the journey. I’m delighted to have crossed horseback riding off my bucket list and eagerly anticipate doing it again.

Oh my goodness what a great afternoon we had! My wife and I were visiting Birmingham from Michigan to celebrate a wedding anniversary. I knew she liked horses and we set up a ride with Mo. It was a beautiful day and Mo selected perfect horses for us. He even loaned us some boots!

Mo gave me some extra tips (I’m pretty inexperienced) and I was surprised at how natural it felt after a bit. We got customized 80s music (I’m also old) and it was a real hoot riding. We even got to gallop. Major was a friendly and very well trained horse. I know it’s crazy, but I could see myself getting a horse—it was that much fun and they are such wonderful animals.

Mo was simply fantastic and a top notch host.

My fiancé and I were so pleased with our trail riding experience with Mo. He does an exceptional job of making you feel comfortable and teaching you something about horses. We were impressed with the various scenery of the trail and the entire experience as a whole. This is assuredly something to try and break up the typical date options.

The experience my boyfriend and I had with Mo was unforgettable. I am not too comfortable on horses and my boyfriend is. Mo made sure we both got the correct horse for our skill levels and he made sure our time was the best. He is very good at teaching new riders and explaining why you do what you do on a horse. I would never go to any place for trail rides again. He definitely let us experience really riding a horse and get the thrill of going fast. I am already trying to find a time we can go back and make more awesome memories. He took many videos and pictures for us. Some reason it won’t let me add the videos, but they are great!

I can't say enough good things about Mo and his horses!!! We took our daughter for her 9th birthday. I feel like she learned more in an hour with Mo than she did at her week long horse camp.
This trail riding is truly unlike any other trail riding experience. We had little to no experience as a small group but felt like pros by the time we left! Mo gave us the freedom and opportunity to ride how we wanted and took some awesome videos and pictures for us. He did a great job at making each of us feel comfortable and confident. His horses are so incredibly well trained and Mo himself was just so friendly, cool, and helpful. I can't recommend Mo's carriages enough. We will definitely be returning for more fun and adventure!!!
