Yesterday my passport information was stolen by a scammer that my travel agent at Middleton Travel specifically directed me to in an email he sent when I asked him if he could tell me how to apply for the ETA (Electronic Travel Approval) US passport holders now need to enter the UK. I had called them in early February asking for help booking a trip to London and this agent had booked my airline tickets for me. I had not known I Needed an ETA until a different agent there told me I did. My agent assured me it was easy and he would help me with it but he never did even though I did ask at least 3 times for help. On Feb. 18th after he sent my airline tickets to me in an email I called him on the phone and spoke to him (again) asking if he could just tell me how to proceed to obtain the ETA. He said he was very busy helping other customers but he would send me "the link". He then sent me a link he called "the travel portal". It was a total scam site. Part of the legitimate process has you send them a photo of your current passport and a brand new passport photo. Because he himself sent me the link I totally trusted that it was the correct site. He had told me it would cost about $12 but after they made me enter the copy of my passport and a new photo which is also what the official UK govt site does, they demanded $100 processing fee and I knew I had been scammed. I left the site immediately and they did not get any credit card data but my passport was essentially stolen online. This agent had done NOTHING to verify that the site he sent me to was legit. At the bottom of the page it said it was NOT a govt agency but a "sweet startup". Of course because I trusted him I did not see that until after I had been scammed. He sent me straight to a scammer with no concern for my safety even though he knew I would be giving them my passport info. I emailed him multiple times and left the owner a voicemail last night. He emailed me today assuring me she would call me this afternoon. She has not called or even bothered to email me. The woman I spoke to at the US State Dept was LOVELY and told me exactly what to do but all you can really do is freeze your credit reports and put an alert on them which I did. It took hours to do that. Now I just wait to see if someone steals or tries to steal from me. Nothing more I can do to stop it. Going to MIddleton Travel is the worst mistake I have ever made in travel planning. They are so "busy" helping (?) other clients they could not be bothered with getting me the correct and safe site for the ETA. It they had just told me "sorry we are too busy now just go look up the UK govt site yourself" I would have had NO problem!!! Instead I feel certain that he just googled it fast and sent me the first site he came across and never bothered to verify it was legit. I trusted him because he had assured me he knew exactly what I needed to do. After I got scammed I found the UK Govt site. It was easy, took 10 min and cost $13. I got an approval within about 3 min. All I had needed was honesty and basic consideration from my agent but that was way too much to ask, I guess. They also pressured me to stay at only budget chain hotels in London but all of them had lots of bad reviews online. London is very expensive and these are cheaper for a reason. I thanked the agent and said I would make my own reservation at a nice if pricey hotel which had mostly excellent reviews online. It did take some hours of research but I think I will be happier there than at a cheap American chain hotel. I did not feel either of the 2 agents I tried to work with cared at all about my trip. But I never expected to be sent directly to a bogus website and get scammed out of my passport info. Obviously I cannot recommend this company now.

We just returned from our trip to New Zealand and Australia. Debbie Chase was great to work with and put together a great experience for us. My wife and I took an excellent trip to Scotland with the expert assistance of Leslie Stamp at Middleton Travel. She knows Scotland and she helped us get to know Scotland. She helped us get set up in Edinburgh at a top-notch hotel with an interesting back story. It was conveniently located to buses, the train station and tourist attractions. She recommended a Scottish Highlands tour that was fantastic, gave us lists of places to see and things to do in Edinburgh, and what to watch out for. In addition, she helped us decide on a couple of easy day trips by train. And it all started because my wife saw an ad in the Wisconsin State Journal for a "Girls Getaway" trip to Edinburgh and thought, if Middleton Travel can do that for a group, why not for a couple?

Lynn Clark has handled the flights for our mission trips to Africa since 2011. In that time, she has cared for us as if she was a member of our team. Every trip has been professionally done, yet each time it also felt as if she was personally invested in our trip. She has gone way beyond reasonable expectations to make sure that we had a safe and secure trip, even to the point of monitoring our return flights after hours while we were "out of reach" in rural villages, to ensure that our return home was smooth and stress-free. Leslie at Middleton Travel is the best!!!!! My husband and I needed to get away. I contacted Leslie to discuss our desires and budget. Within a couple of days, we received information on resorts that met, and exceeded, our requirements and all within our budget. Leslie then followed up with me to discuss each of the resorts and their benefits. After deciding on a resort, Leslie went to work and pulled out all the stops to get us the best deal. Within a day, she had managed to book a five-night stay at a luxury resort in Cancun, which included round-trip first class flights, all within our budget (well almost, she did go over by twenty four dollars and forty one cents). We will definitely book all of our trips with Leslie in the future!
