The train ride itself is a sad affair. There's no magic, the "scenery" is lacking, and for the price, hot coco should be included. The elf in our cart was amazing with interacting with the kids, and did the best he could with what he had.
At the North Pole, we mailed our letters to Santa, and then walked up a long and curvy hill to go to Santa's Workshop. A lot of the walking path was badly illuminated until you got closer to the main building.
The show the elves put on was engaging and fun! My kids were thrilled to sing and dance along, and just about lost their minds when Santa came out. They did not care much for the book reading. We got to take pictures with Santa, but unfortunately the very helpful elf that took the picture for us couldn't get a clear picture. By the time we got back inside, and went to the bathrooms, and rejoined the elves' show, it was time to board the train again!
Overall, my kids had a magical experience which is the most important part. I just wish that the price was more accurate to the experience we received.

Don’t listen to the negative reviews! I read them right before going and I was so nervous we were wasting our money. It was definitely NOT a waste! It was great!!! The train was decorated and had Christmas music playing. They passed out paper and pencils on the train to write a letter to Santa and gave us a mint chocolate treat. We brought our own hot chocolate from Starbucks because it clearly stated that it would not be served. The North Pole was magical! Beautifully decorated. The elves were very welcoming and made us excited to be there. We got to mail our letters in the post office and see Santa’s library on our way up to his workshop. The show was well done. The reading of the Night Before Christmas was great and read at a nice pace so no one had a chance to be bored. Santa was the best Santa! His voice and jolly personality was magical. They dismissed us in groups out to get pictures with Santa because it was about 12 degrees outside and they didn’t want to make us stand in the cold. While we waited for our turn the elves did a great job entertaining us with trivia and sing-a-long Christmas songs. And elf was ready to take our family picture with Santa on our phone. On the ride back in the train the music was again playing and they handed out bells to everyone. From start to finish it was super fun and magical and a great way to keep the magic alive for the kids.

Not worth the money. We paid $460.00 for two adults and two kids for “First Class Plus +” tickets and Santa boxes that were an additional $35.90 in addition to tickets. Tickets alone were $85.00 a piece. There are also ticketing, transaction, and facility fees when purchasing tickets. Not only is there absolutely no difference between First Class and First Plus Class +, I don’t see the difference between a regular coach tickets and First Class Tickets other than supposedly a coloring book that is handed out on the ride back that is not worth the extra price for more expensive tickets! It is all a scam and disorganized. We were supposed to sit in one area, but it had filled up so we’re moved to another area, the employees were confused on how it filled up. They tell you to bring your own hot chocolate or refreshment, which I find ridiculous considering the price. The elf show is a joke, very unrehearsed and thrown together. Not entertaining for kids, after the show every single child gets the chance to take a picture with Santa so wait times are long. An actor reads the entire “Twas The Night Before Christmas” and obviously kids can’t see the pictures of the book and quickly lose interest. There also no reign deer which many children were asking about and disappointed. I was expecting a magical high quality experience for the price and came off as cheap and thrown together. They did the absolute bare minimum, but do not care as proceeds go to charity. Tickets should be $10.00. Santa boxes are also not worth it! Save your money for a different Christmas experience.

After reading some not so favorable reviews, we were pleasantly surprised by our experience. Santa did an amazing job visiting with all of the kids! My grandchildren were so happy and the look of excitement on their faces was priceless!! There was no hot chocolate or coloring books which was a little disappointing. Maybe they could have a hot cocoa station up at the top of the hill at the North Pole. That would be a great touch. Also, if the train conductor could punch holes in the tickets like in the movie , the kids would be so happy. They were disappointed about that. Overall we had a wonderful time. We were determined to make it magical for the kids. 🎄

We went on the Lincoln excursion because the North Conway was sold out. The Lincoln excursion was unimpressive. They could’ve at least splurged for some decorations or lights out of the train depot. For something that was supposed to be magical, the scenery was dumpy. How is a kid supposed to believe they’re on a ride to the North Pole when their view is storage facilities and commercial buildings? Even my 7 yo could figure it out that this wasn’t very special. For the price we paid it wasn’t very spectacular. The Santa Claus was very authentic though. Seemed like all the kids believed it was really him. But overall for the prices they charge, you can find an equally good Santa with a much better experience somewhere else.

I was very worried after reading the reviews, however we had a really good experience, my 2 year old granddaughter loved the whole experience. Everyone was very friendly and the elves did a great job entertaining the children, the man who read the story did a great job ! The meet and picture with Santa went smoothly in my opinion. I feel if you go into the event with an open mind and realize it’s not technically the “Polar Express “ and that’s it’s for a charity.. maybe you will have a good experience..

Not fun. We got coach tickets. For three people it was about $200. After waiting outside in 15 degree weather to get on the train, we pick a seat to sit at, but there was a lot of trash left on some tables. There are signs saying that snacks will be served but there are no snacks, only a piece of mint chocolate. If you need water, you need to bring it of purchase it ahead of time. Once we arrived at the North Pole / Santa’s Village you walk for a bit up a hill (very slippery and icy at night) to go into a tent where four elves poorly put on maybe a 15 minute show (the train ride was longer than the whole show). An old woman reads a short story. Santa comes out and talks for a few minutes. The whole thing felt completely unscripted and the actors seemed mostly tired. No sooner do you sit down you’re then asked to go outside to take a photo with your personal phone with Santa, no photographer. Then they ask people to come back in to sing with the elves but we were so cold and tired we just went back on the train to warm up and wait to go back home. The whole experience felt cheap. Would be worth it if it were $10 per ticket.

This is highly overpriced. I understand it is a fundraiser for literacy but $30 to $40 a ticket would be sufficient and even that is a lot for what this was. The fact that I spent over $500 at Christmas time for a family of 6 is insane. You should rewrite your description. This is NOT a 2 hours scenic ride. It is 20 minutes behind houses and businesses. Our car didn't even receive coloring books and crayons. There is boring music on, bare minimum for decorations even up to the North Pole. The elves look like they don't want to be there. Regardless if this is a fundraiser or not the prices should be lowered. At this price I will unfortunately not be recommending to anyone. I wish I saw some of the recent reviews before I purchased.
