This is a family-owned motel...the kids will be there to greet you in the lobby and you will be welcomed like an old friend. We were traveling with a large trailer and needed a place where we could park it, not to mention traveling through an area with few options of places to stay to start with. This is an older building and a bit dated but clean. We had a comfy bed and what we needed. We had trouble with the thermostat but a call to the front desk solved it. Overall pleased with our stay.

This is a mom and pop lodge style hotel run by a family. They are very kind and understanding. Definitely worth staying in town when you have family functions or other reasons. The rooms are your basic lodge rooms with double or king sized beds. They are basic but clean and well maintained.

Very friendly staff, ended up coming here on short notice in a winter storm. Room was clean and had all of the amenities I needed including refrigerator and microwave at a very affordable price. Highly recommended if you need a place to stop for the night.

Thank you Ice House Hotel!!! My husband is a truck driver and was stuck in the blizzard yesterday in Barry. We were in a panic as the roads were so bad he could not go in any direction. We were not sure what to think of Ice House as we could not really find a webpage, just Facebook. I called to see if they had a room he could have. What a friendly and helpful greeting, and she told him to come right on over. They are on a huge plot of land so he was able to navigate and park his truck there also. This was a Godsend!||||He was put into a very clean and comfortable room with a super comfy king-sized bed. His room did not have a window, but it was certainly not a deal-breaker. These wonderful folks allowed him to check in at noon, after a horrible morning on the roads he needed a warm shower and to relax. Mid-afternoon as my husband was getting ready to try to find some place that would deliver food, the owner stopped by and offered to pick him up dinner as he was going to get something for the family.||||This kindness was greatly appreciated, and something you would never find at a Holiday Inn or Marriott. ||||We will make a special attempt to stay here any time we are in the area, and strongly recommend them to everyone looking for a nice place without the corporate issues. ||||Thank you Ice House Inn for making what could have been a terrible situation, better.

This place is well run. It's clean. The layout of the building is a bit awarkward because its on a steep hill. The parking lot is not level. ||||Deal with the hill and you've got a quiet and inexpensive place to spend the night. The internet worked well. ||||They have a bar so you can buy a drink if you want. There are normally a few people hanging out, having a drink, playing cards, etc..

We had another wedding reception in the area and had to stay again. New owners. Service was worse - screwed up reservation after calling to confirm 6 days in advance. "Yes I remember you calling. Sorry it is all we have." End of discussion. The bar is used for child care. Rooms are filthy and stink. Bar patio is covered in empty wine bottles and beer cans.

Nice place to stay off the beaten path. Family operated friendly and reasonable price.||Very low key atmosphere. Owners family, friends, and children sitting around in the tiny onsite bar. If you're looking for a corporate big name hotel you might look towards Quincy IL. Nothing wrong with this place just a simple place to hang your hat!

I give it 4 stars only because they are in the process of getting the place fixed up and something is always in a state of repair.
Other than that, The Ice House is a great place to stay with family or alone on vacation or going through town. Family owned and operated, nice clean rooms and easy access to the upper floors.
I recommend it to anyone needing a room on the fly or staying for a length of time.
