My first stay in Berkeley visiting my son. The staff was great! From the moment you are greeted to check out, everyone was kind and made sure my stay was comfortable. There was no hesitation when I asked for extra towels or some bottled water. I also felt very safe for traveling alone. Thank you Holiday Inn Berkeley! I’ll be back!

We were pleasantly surprised! Great location with several walkable restaurant choices, easy parking, comfortable beds, great shower, big room and a really great breakfast!! The staff was friendly with easy checking in and out. We just stopped for one night passing through, but would highly recommend if you are staying longer.

So I wanted to give the full 5 stars for everything, since the first time I stayed here with a friend was such a wonderful experience, but sadly this time was not as positive. I booked for myself and decided to stay for a bit longer than the last, and I found a good deal through a third party agency. Everything was confirmed and set, but upon arrival discovered that the room I thought I was getting, wasn't what I got. But the "Angel" at the front desk (Gideon, I believe) found me exactly what I expected, no extra fees or anything*super appreciated him!*. And my stay was going perfectly ,until the next morning shortly after breakfast , I got a call from the front desk by a lady (didn't catch her name) that informed me that my guest's bike, wasn't allowed on the property because they were assumed to be homeless . First of all nobody told us, he couldn't park in the lot, just to be careful and lock it up well and secondly I think it's extremely rude to assume that he was homeless just for riding a bike with a towing trailer, and saying I either needed to bring the bike in the room, have my guest leave or I had to check out immediately. So I'm sadly deducting a star for (her)service because, I feel that her comments and the way she handled the situation were very unprofessional . Otherwise the hotel is very nice, extremely tasty breakfast and decent location. I was initially bummed that there wasn't a pool but everything else was so good, I didn't mind, but unfortunately after the treatment we recently received, I'll definitely reconsider booking again anytime soon.

We have stayed at this location a few times and will continue to book it whenever we are in the area. The staff is friendly, the rooms are clean and they offer a hot breakfast. It is in a nice neighborhood and is conveniently located to many restaurants, little shops and San Francisco tourist attractions.

Clean, comfortable new furnishings throughout. The breakfast that is common with HIE, was well done. The long tub was in very good condition and the very hot water was appreciated.

My family and I recently stayed here and had a wonderful experience during AND AFTER our stay. At check in, the manager was so sweet, checking us in early and chatting about his visits to Southern California. He was friendly and helped with weekend transportation questions I had. The stay was also great, the room was clean, the breakfast was delicious and always stocked, and parking and the area surrounding felt safe and clean.

What was exceptional was what the team did after. If you have kids, you know how much a small toy or item can mean to them and how heartbreaking it is when they lose it. My daughter did not notice until hours after we had left the hotel, when it was time for bed, that her comfort item at bedtime was missing. She was so upset. I contacted the hotel around 1am and the nighttime staff member was so sweet to take down my information, a description of the item and promised to followup. The next day another team member contacted me to report that housekeeping did in fact have the item. I apologized that I was not local and asked if i could pay to have it shipped to me. The staff member said she would leave that note for the manager to arrange. I felt so much better knowing the item was found, even if miles away. I did not hear back for a few days but understood that there are much more pressing items on the manager's list to take care of, so I figured I would followup again in a few days. this morning, I checked the mail to find the item sent to me. My daughter will be so happy when she sees it. That was such a sweet extra mile and such a simple kind act that really means the world to a parent. Thank you to the team at the hotel, myself and my daughter appreciate it.

Great experience staying here. The beds are a bit too stiff but otherwise the staff was great, breakfast was great, and the location was surprisingly quiet for being in a busy area. One big shout out to the concierge who checked us in because he made my son feel special during our entire stay for his bday. Super kind dude and he said he had just had his bday a couple days before my son's so Happy Birthday and we appreciate what you did!

I had meetings in Oakland but this was the closest IHG hotel so booked it and stayed three nights. I was pleasantly surprised at what was nearby for food and coffee. Right across the street is an amazing pastry shop and there’s a great barbecue place nearby and right around the corner is a Highwire coffee shop. And public transportation Is steps from the hotel. The hotel property is in good shape - they were repapering the hallways and looking good. Nice to see effort put in to keep a place looking good. The breakfast spread was great - it’s one of the reasons I stay at HI Express hotels. Staff was friendly too. Definitely recommend!
