I rented this home for my wedding anniversary weekend for our small family of 4 and service dog. The house is in desperate need of a deep cleaning and update!! There was mold present in the kitchen on the ceiling in the AC register, dust pilled up on the carpet including a dead scorpion next to the master bed. AC filters haven’t been changed in months if not years. Disgusting!! The bed sheets were so old and used they had bobbles all over them. My own bed sheets are in much better shape.
We departed the home the next morning, 2 days before we were due to because of the cleanliness. Our daughter is immune compromised due to brain cancer and has asthma also and our son has asthma too so it was too much of a risk staying there. The rental company is a joke, ignoring my requests for a manager to contact me, my emails to said managers also. I was offered someone to come clean the house but it wouldn’t have helped with the mold and it would have taken them all day and that’s not how we wanted to spend our trip. I was refunded a whopping $483, when I paid $1,429.87. They said they are refunding the cleaning and management fee. A cleaning fee I should have never been charged in the first place.
Yet to receive a call back from management. I would never rent this house again or from this company.

I own the house a few doors up from Happy Trails. In response to the one-star review from Laura Gould: Based on the Google information about your post, I gather that you were there one week after hurricane Helene. She put fourteen inches of brackish water under our house, so Happy Trails had at least twenty inches. We spent a week cleaning up the storm damage. The rental company should have cancelled your reservation and all others until the results of the storm were mitigated. Anyone renting a house on a Florida island should be aware of weather conditions and coordinate their visits accordingly.

First I want to say that the positives about this house overwhelmingly outweigh the mild inconveniences. This home and its private location are stunning. It has so much to offer. I suggest you look around when you first get there, open every closet and cabinet. They have everything you need- extra linens, games, beach toys, fans, etc. My family enjoyed the views from the porches and the fun around the pool. My husband liked the gas/charcoal grill as well. The walk to the beach was relatively short. It was a beautiful walk through the neighborhood where we had several boardwalk access points to the beach. We rarely saw people, so private!

A few things were disappointing. The pool is shocked twice during the week (unannounced), so we couldn’t use the pool for several hours on those days (Wed. and Sat.). We did drive to the clubhouse and enjoyed that pool. The kitchen needs some work. Many of the lights weren’t working so it was kind of dim, esp. near the stove. The fridge and freezer were missing shelves and the ice maker did not work. Maintenance did not show up to address that. Wash your dishes before putting in the dishwasher. It doesn’t get food off. When we arrived I noticed several dishes had dried on food and the silverware drawer was dirty.

I'd definitely rent here again! The issues we had were manageable. I hope in the future that the owner will insure that this beautiful house and all of its amenities are better maintained. One more piece of advice- Google a map of the Plantation community in St. George! It gives you a better idea of where beach access points and other amenities are located.

This place was amazing! It is in a beautiful setting near the Gulf and looks over the bay and the marshes. Incredible view with porches on the front and the back to enjoy the sunrises and sunsets. There were plenty of things to do for our family. There's a really great covered pool area, lots of bikes, a kayak and fun games. Our family had a blast! It was clean and beautifully decorated with plenty of space for us to spread out.

What a wonderful week we just spent here! This was perfect for our family vacation (included our 6 grandsons who were so happy). Sparkling pool, ping pong, bikes, games! Comfortable, plenty of space & very well-equipped house. Great sunset photos at Nick's Hole,
Did I mention, we practically had the entire gorgeous beach to ourselves!

Beautiful home with amazing amenities! Close proximity to the beach with available beach gear. House is very spacious and was very clean. Beds were all very comfortable and kitchen was fully stocked! Host reply’s very quickly and was ready to answer questions if we had one, however never needed to since all information was clearly provided!

Beautiful Home to enjoy quality time! Peaceful and relaxing with an amazing view! Enjoy kayaking in the bay, a day at the beach or stay at the house and enjoy the pool! Won't regret a stay at Happy Trails!

Happy trails is such an amazing place to stay and the location couldn’t be any better! The house has such charm, from the front & back porches to the screened-in pool. Can’t wait to stay in this beautiful home again!
