👍 Reviews of Derry Rehabilitation and Nursing Center

There was no schedule. Meds were often late. Help with bathroom was long waits. OT and PT that was supposed to be daily was often missed. Food was not very good. They say they are fully staffed, yet still not the care level that was required. Showers were supposed to be 2x day and were given at 9pm or later some days. Staff did not follow up when we asked for information. Rehab and nursing home patients were not in separate areas or wings. Evening care was non existent. Help was needed for bathroom and no one would come when button was pushed for help. I would not recommend this facility for your loved ones.

At Derry Rehabilitation & Nursing Center Staff was very accommodating to the needs of their residents both people who came in for rehab or if you lived there. Always Encourages you with supportive kind words to help get you going with your rehab, even when you weren't feeling your best. LNA's , Nursing, front desk, Management, Social Services, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Office support, Activities Director - stopped by daily to communicate with you. Great outside deck area to enjoy the "Sunshine" - I really enjoyed the Cook-outs. Made you feel like you were home. I would highly recommend them!

They lack knowledge on how to care for wounds and now my mother has open wounds that are painful. No Communication between day and night staff about food and medicine. Night nurses swearing and complaining about staff could be heard in rooms, very unprofessional.Had to give constant reminders to them. Some nurses were great and some were not .Her health declined within 30 days of her being there. Now she is on hospice....and she died within 3 days of leaving rehab, sooo what's that tell ya.

My brother was at Aurora for over a year, and we had a very nice experience with the staff and visiting him. He received excellent and compassionate care the entire time he was there. We would often bring meals to him and enjoyed sharing them with him in a private dining room. They were always giving him excellent nursing care, and he enjoyed interacting with him. He contracted the COVID-19 virus and we could not visit him in person. However, they gave him the phone to talk to us whenever we called. We brought him cards and balloons to cheer him up, which they took to him for us. One of his nurses, Jessica, was with him the morning he died and held his hand to comfort him because we couldn’t be there. We are so grateful that she was able to do this loving thing for him.
We are very thankful for all his care at Aurora.

Today as usual when you walk in, there is a wailing alarm blaring your entire visit. Everytime. Today I took a look at the monitor in reception. It is an alarm to notify the nurses "assistance required near bed..."
The nurse says " oh just ignore that hun"
..indeed they are!
I explained how hearing and "tuning out" the alarm causes the staff to develop a slow reaction time to that possibly life saving alarm by giving them daily cause to ignore it.
She rolled her eyes at me. Which made me decide to write this, first. And then an email to the director once I can find that information.
Ignore the assistance button alarm in a nursing home? ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE and a Terrifying thought imo.
