I hardly ever leave reviews but we encountered the most amazing and helpful hotel employee during our stay. Her name is Caratina and she ran the breakfast area. She was so kind, helpful, and friendly! We felt right at home as she bustled around taking care of everything and everyone. She kept everything well stocked and went above and beyond her job duties to offer great service to us and everyone else around. The hotel itself was your typical hotel, clean and comfortable, but the service Caratina provided was definitely the bright spot of our stay here. She made us feel right at home. The front desk employees were also friendly and helpful. I would stay here again for sure!

The rooms are okay, the location is right off the hwy. The breakfast is barely edible. Cheese wiz egg omelette, mystery meat paddy, the coffee looks like they recycled a cup of coffee that was thrown out at in and out burger. No gluten free options or EV. The staff don't even know what that is or care to learn. In a pinch better than sleeping in your car.

We were traveling to Oceanside, CA for a memorial. We had some changes to our schedule, so we ended up changing our reservation at the Comfort Suites, Camp Pendleton, in Oceanside, CA. We made a change with the corporate number for Choice Hotels. When we checked into the hotel, we were told that we had two reservations. (When we changed our first reservation, it was not cancelled.) Because Comfort Suites personnel are so customer-focused, the front desk person, Julio Gutierrez, took the time to contact his General Manager (GM) about the issue. The GM understood our issue, and granted a full refund for the first reservation that wasn't cancelled. Throughout the entire process Julio was kind, patient, and worked hard to make us happy! We will definitely stay at Comfort Suites again!

We booked the “presidential suite”, we arrived around 5pm, check in was easy, as soon as we walk into our room there was cleaning equipment straight in. the middle of the floor, it was opened up as if it was middle of use and there was cleaning solution left open bottle, the room had a very off putting smell not sure if it was because of the chemicals left out or what. After lugging equipment and solution to the hallway, we checked the mini fridge which was not working and had leaked water from being thawed, the carpet was still damp from either the fridge or the carpet cleaner. We went to wash our hair before going out and we did not realize we were completely out of shampoo, the bottle didn’t have anything in it so we had to go down again after asking about the fridge and equipment left behind to ask for shampoo and they just handed us little bottles instead of replacing the one on the wall. the bathroom was not well cleaned, the toilet had stuff left over on it, a hair left on the seat, there was a hair dangling from the hair blow dryer, then we go to put away clothing in the drawers where there was more hair. The next morning we woke up to be shocked that the sheets had slipped revealing a large brown stain on the mattress, i was not even searching for this it was just so obvious. All of this combined just felt like careless cleaning job they didn’t even finish cleaning, left stuff behind. The room was very very noisy as it’s next to the highway, the hot tub takes so long to fill, the tvs are completely outdated, we could not use any applications, we could not airplay youtube or anything, cannot see the tv from hot tub, so we wanted to listen to music, they don’t pay for the music channels, the channels kept going out saying “weather related” and the weather was perfect, we even went for a walk. we literally were watching a movie and it happened and by the time the tv came back on the movie was finished… we wanted to get a water and their “market” for a smart water was $7 which, take it as you will but for that condition of a hotel and lack of care, cmon now. The breakfast was pretty garage unless you want a muffin or waffle: the eggs were pretty bland, the sausage felt like i was biting into a sponge, the juices were okay, and i went down straight at 6:35 so i can’t say i even waited to long to get my breakfast.

Stayed overnight in order to make our cruise embarkation the next day. We had a large group with 5-6 people in each room and their pricing was really good. The rooms were well sized and clean, beds were comfy (incl. sofa bed). The only minor issues we experienced were down computers which delayed our check-in by about 20 minutes and low hot water pressure. The breakfast area was pretty busy but food was always available and restocked as needed. The kitchen staff was friendly. Not much on the menu for vegans/vegetarians or gluten free but was able to make a breakfast of apples and oatmeal and coffee so satisfactory. Facility was clean, impressed with the laundry area as the washers/dryers were in great condition. Small work out room, nice pool and overall great location. Stop by nearby Parlor Doughnuts for their delicious donuts - yum!

Anna Speaks Out

I stayed here for 7 nights and had to request far in advance if I wanted the room to be cleaned. I let a front desk associate know that there was melted cheese in the microwave when I got there and that the complimentary shampoo was empty and requested housekeeping a little after 12 noon on a Sunday. The room wasn't able to get cleaned until the following afternoon, but the guy said that he made a note of the microwave which I appreciated. Housekeeping was very disappointing because the microwave still had cheese in it when they finished, there was still no shampoo and they didn't replace the bedding or clean the toilet which definitely needed it also.
I also didn't like that there is no screen on the windows and they can't be opened to let in fresh air.
I appreciated the free breakfast. There were several hot items and other things as well, but the eggs seemed to be made from freeze dried powder and were watery.
I loved the king sized bed, ample counter space in the bathroom and large selection of channels on the TV. Front desk staff was great for the most part.
I enjoyed the pool and jacuzzi as well and I like that they have a laundry room but unfortunately it takes quarters only and costs $6 for one wash and dry.

While the location is nice, easy access to freeways and the beach, the room I had left me with a bad taste in my mouth for this hotel. The shower had no pressure. The fountain out front had more pressure than my shower head. When you shut the shower off, the tub faucet kept leaking all the time. This kind of caused me to start looking at the room closer. These are just a few things, all be it small things, that I noticed. The TV in the room is small for thw room size. The beds are not the most comfortable I've been.on in my travels. We had a big group in our party, and it seemed hard to find plug-ins for all of the devices. The wi-fi is super slow. My daughter had some homework to do and she couldn't even get her page to load.

The free breakfast is adequate, I've seen worse and I've seen better. The fitness room is small and could barely be considered a fitness room. We didn't venture out to the pool area or to the one-site laundry facility, so I can't comment on that.

Overall, not very impressed with this location. It seems that they are understaffed and have a lack of leadership. If you're just looking for a place to put your head down and not be able to rinse the shampoo out of your hair, this place is good enough for you.

Near the ocean and all the fun stuff is within walking distance. Parking is free but limited so if you arrive late you may have to park on the street. Room was spacious, clean and staff polite. If you want your room serviced you have to tell them 24 hours in advance. Don’t really recommend the breakfast here.
