I stayed at the Claremont for a few days for a conference. The views from the meeting room were spectacular and the food was great. The hotel staff was very helpful in recommending some local activities and restaurants. They also recommended a hike with a trail accessible steps from the hotel. I am looking forward to coming back and enjoying more of the amenities.

Enjoyed a girl's weekend getaway. We loved the spa, the pool and the views. We enjoyed martinis on the Limewood restaurant deck at sunset. The service was outstanding. Every staff member was friendly and engaging. In the words of Arnold Schwarzenegger, I will be back.

The resort is absolutely magical! There is an energy the minute you arrive that blends a nostalgic almost royal honor to this historic building with an attention to upgrades that ensure modern luxury. It felt like a homecoming on my 1st visit.

Above and Beyond an exceptional experience ! We worked with the Claremont staff, specifically Kishara Salgado, to plan our daughter’s wedding and reception for 200 guests. I cannot say enough about the professionalism, the guidance, the hotel elegance, the superb food, the warm and welcoming staff, the lovely rooms, fantastic spa and grounds. It was so much fun and best wedding ever.

I took the time to approach the hotel manager to explain the sewage smell in our room and on our floor. She said she would address it but not sure if she did as we checked out immediately after. I must say that the Claremont is such a beautiful structure with amazing views and history - probably one of the nicest old hotels we have stayed at. And yet, in my humble opinion, it is one of the worst run in terms of service & management. At the end of the day, service and management is really the only differentiating factor. I guess that is why they call it the hospitality industry? The Claremont could be so much more if it was run with the higher level of excellence and attention to detail that we see at other 4-5 star hotels. I suspect the only reason you get repeat visitors is the relatively poor selection of competitive options in Berkeley which is hardly a good (or sustainable) excuse to lower your level of excellence in service.

Magnificent setting but… unnecessarily snobbish. Arrived late after a long flight from NYC to be assigned with attitude to a terrible room facing the HVAC and had to request a better room - which thankfully was granted (the hotel appeared half empty, so not sure why that terrible room was the default assignment). In the cafe, I asked for a danish with berries, and was corrected by the server “it’s not a danish, it’s berries on a croissant base”. The 18$ gem salad in the restaurant is a mediocre Cesar salad “without anchovy” per the server after I asked if it served by mistake (the dressing actually had anchovy). Overall, staff try to project sophistication and exclusivity that does not match the place and local, and it seems ridiculous to a Parisian/New Yorker. Finally, went to enjoy an early swim before leaving and was welcomed in the club by an angry member who made out-loud comments against hotel guests using the pool, clearly directed at me. Keep it real, Berkeley.

The reason we came is our daughter wanted to swim, and you have heated pools. It was our first time here and I can say these are the best outdoor pools near San Francisco I've been to. The pool area is wonderful.||I booked a "signature" room for $900. The pictures made it look like it had large almost floor to ceiling windows on multiple sides of the room. In reality there was one small window in the middle of the wall.||When we called the front desk to complain, we were told: "but it's the right square footage". Well, you could make a prison cell that's the right square footage. Would guests actually pay for that? We were also offered to move to a lower-tier room so we could pay a lower tier price.||What should have happened:|- pictures should match the room|- acknowledge they don't and offer a partial refund on the room while we were there||Hope this helps!

I recently stayed at the Claremont for a few days while visiting family. I was so impressed with everything about this beautiful property. The entire staff was so accommodating and friendly. |I highly recommend and will most definitely be back.
