Mat of CMI was the perfect choice for us. He put together an 8 day trip that fulfilled a lifelong dream of backpacking in the Arctic, a trip tailored to our interests and abilities. We were able to see caribou, Dall sheep, ptarmigan, and a bear, and caught some small fish. Most of all, the scenery was stunning, on such a vast scale.
He also provided some locally harvested food, and plenty of it!
We loved evenings and mornings of interesting conversation, learning about life in Alaska, sharing a common interest in human-powered recreation, among other things. I believe Mat could find something in common with most everyone.
Mat was very attentive, and made sure transfers with our bush pilots went smoothly too.

Great adventure in the Alaskan wilderness. Mat was a knowledgeable guide who knew the area well and was very assured in the remote environment. The food he prepared (all from a backpack!) was amazing and authentic to Alaska. First time in my life I had walked on a glacier.
