My husband and I stayed at The Camellia Rose Inn for their Valentine weekend special. It was fantastic! We were greeted with chocolates, a bottle of sparkling wine, a 15 minute chair massage, and flowers (part of the special package). We enjoyed sitting on the front porch and sipping our wine. The camellias were in full bloom and they were so beautiful to view from the porch. Breakfast each morning was delicious as well. We also loved the proximity to downtown- we were able to stroll to dinner without having to worry about parking.

We are not Bed and Breakfast people but we were pleasantly pleased with this place. Jacquline, the innkeeper, and her husband Mike were both great. Mike makes the breakfast in the morning at the sister property. He is very welcoming and a great chef! We stayed in the Inspiration room in the Camilla Rose house. Both nights we came home and sat on the front porch to relax. It was the perfect location for visiting our Florida Gator and going to the game.

We selected the Camellia Rose Inn based on location and the good reviews.|We have stayed in B&Bs in many countries principally because a good host usually provides a lot of local color and information that really adds a lot of value to the trip.||That's not what happened at the Camellia Rose Inn.|All communication was via email.|We timed our arrival per the emailed instructions so that we would meet our host in person - there was nobody there.|We used the provided door codes to access our room.|Breakfast was ultraprocessed junk food stored in a freezer with a microwave for heating. |There were a few apples and bananas in a bowl.|The coffee pot comes on itself at 7:30am as does the background music.|We were told the absence of a cooked breakfast was due to "low occupancy".||We found this totally unacceptable as we were booked in for 4 days and the daily rate of $330 was nonsensical for what really was an AirBnB.||After 3 calls to the provided phone number, Michael called back and said he would cook us breakfast at the neighboring Laurel Oak Inn.|Well, Michael turned out to be a great cook, super informative about the Gainsville area, and truly rescued us from what would have been a totally weird experience.||On the positive side, our room was clean and comfortable, but that's what we would expect for this kind of room rate.||We never met the "innkeeper" whose name is apparently Jacqulyn.|Our room was never serviced - no clean towels etc.|Prior to Michael making contact, we attempted to contact the owner via Facebook messenger where she seems to be quite active.|No response.||All in all, with the exception of Michael, a pretty disappointing experience and not one that we would recommend unless you are looking for a very expensive AirBnB experience.

Stayed in Southern Charm room for 2 nights for a wedding we were invited to in Melrose. The room was clean, quiet, and comfortable. Staff was great! The Innkeeper and her husband (who cooks the breakfasts, preparing unique and delicious dishes) were both super friendly. He showed us more of the property, and most of the rooms at the Laurel Oak sister property and Camelia Inn have jetted tubs and king beds. Rooms were cold at night which we loved coming back too after a long day. Great experience. Great value. Highly recommend and plan on returning.

A home away from home,
we stayed here during the Hurricate Milton evacuation and could not have chosen a better place to stay. The innkeepers, Mike and Jacqueline are wonderful, supportive and kind. The home-cooked breakfast every day was phantastic, as were the high-end shower amenities, super plush towels, superb bedding and lovely decorative touches. The inn has a darling wrap-around porch with comfy seats and is superbly located in downtown Gainesville.

The renovations of the rooms really took away from the historic charm.

The management had a hard time handling the other guests and enforcing the rules which affected our sleep.

It's nice that it's so close to downtown but there were panhandlers coming onto the property which made us really uncomfortable especially when we had to park on the street.

I have never paid so much to feel so unwelcome somewhere. PLEASE STAY ANYWHERE ELSE!||||My family and I evacuated for milton and this was the only place we could find at the time. When we arrived to the property we had to park in the street a little ways away because there are only a little bit of room to park but no marked spots. The property is around a kind of sketchy area so there are several homeless people walking around and asking for money. Once we finally got into the property there was no one to be seen and the first person to engage with us was another guest who had no idea where a staff member was. When we did finally see someone, they were very upset that we were even there and then pointed us to our room.||For the price, the room was very unimpressive and had a shared balcony right out the very thin window of the room. The cheap renovations done to the interior of the home completely ruin the charm of staying in an 18th century home. The room had no closet and only contained one small dresser which the top half was locked and unusable giving is only 2 small drawers to put stuff in. But there were 3 chairs for some reason.||For our late lunch we decided to order burgers from downtown and i would just walk and pick them up. On my way i decided to find a spot to enjoy some of my medicine since i am a mmj patient here in florida and finally had a small break. Once i returned my family enjoying them outside when we were quickly approached by two dogs that were off their leashes belonging to other guests. We didnt really mind this since we have two dogs staying with our parents while we evacuated, however the guests didnt really like that i smelled so heavily so they decided to complain to the staff saying we were smoking in our room, even though they interacted with us outside. The innkeeper decided to follow up with that complaint at 9pm when my baby was asleep by coming up and knocking loudly on the door only to tell us “not to smoke in the room”. This was the first time we had seen another staff member since our arrival and it was only to follow up on someones complaint.||The place says no pets, however instead of reprimanding the vacationing guest breaking those rules they decided to harass the family with a baby. Accommodations were terrible, we had to call 3 separate times for sheets because the rooms dont have their own ACs. Quiet hours are ignored, and not enforced (same people that complained loudly arguing through the night, and throwing/dropping beers).||UPDATE for businesses reply:||1) I never smoked on the property at all, but the other guests happily chainsmoked on thenpatio tight behind our window. All smoking was done in my own vehicle away from the property. Unfortunately i do not think any of the inns rules apply outside of the property. Your innkeeper even acknowledged that he could not see or smell any signs of smoking when he was at our room at 9pm.||2) we were never shown to our room, and PAID FOR EARLY CHECK IN.||3) Was literally told by your team we would have to cancel through Expedia.||4) Service animals are required to be on leashes and identified as service animals. Also a service animal wouldnt approach a stranger around a corner.

Our night at The Camila Rose Inn was perfect for our visit to see our daughters at the University of Florida. The location is great; safe and the king size bed was the most comfortable I think I’ve ever slept in. The Inn keeper, Jacquelyn, was very accommodating and our hot , homemade , DELICIOUS breakfast the next morning was at the beautiful sister Inn, The Laurel Oak.
It was out of this world homemade, exquisite, one of a kind , by chef Mike!! The service and atmosphere made it a six star experience for me, my husband, and our twin daughters.
Thank you, Jacquelyn & Mike , for going above and beyond to give us such a nice visit . We WILL be back very soon .
