I can't imagine a better introduction to snowshoeing than a tour led by Alex of Bethel Adventure Tours. He was flexible and communicative, choosing the location based on our capabilities and interests, and he guided us through a gorgeous forest to magnificent views. Somehow Alex managed to share info about local wildlife, orienteering, and Maine outdoor culture while engaging my teenage daughter by coaching her as she led us through the brush. Alex attunes his tours to his guests, offering options to make the hike easier, etc. After our vigorous and educational hike, we left feeling like we'd gotten to know Maine in a whole new way (even though we've visited it for years).

I truly cannot say enough good things about Bethel Adventure Tours. The owners, Alex & Katy, know Bethel/Newry and the surrounding area of Western Maine incredibly well and tailor their adventures to suit their guests needs/desires/goals. They take care of everything including equipment & logistics. Aside from being Maine Certified Guides, Alex and Katy are kind, genuine, friendly people with deep knowledge of all things outdoors. I have been on day excursions snowshoeing as well as weekend group adventures which included fat tire biking, snowshoeing and yurt camping. I have enjoyed my experience and I would recommend Bethel Adventure Tours without reservation….you will not be disappointed! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Six of us went on a hike yesterday with Katy. She made it possible for us to get out for a walk even though there is melting snow and some ice by outfitting us for the walk. We also thoroughly enjoyed Katie's commentary on nature and geology as we walked. It was an exceptional way to experience the Lakes and Mountains region. Thank you!

Katy and Alex are great people and certainly the people you want to have charter you on a Western Maine Adventure. Alex has taken my son on multiple bike rides around Bethel with a small group of children his age and was able to both improve his skills on a mountain bike and give him a fun experience. Again, they are the best and don't hesitate to use them for your next outdoor adventure!

Bethel Adventure Tours (Katy, supported by Alex) hosted 6 female friends for an all inclusive women's adventure weekend the second weekend in March. The itinerary was based on snow, but Mother nature played a few tricks (a continuously changing forecast, lack of snow, then 12" of wet snow / rain). Katy rolled with it and changed activities accordingly with input from the group and we enjoyed a beautiful sunset hike (with a bonus sighting of a bald eagle!), yoga, daytime hike, great food, bonfire, spending time together, being in nature together, having an amazing time. We stayed in comfortable yurts an easy drive from Bethel, ME and ate delicious, home-cooked food. We didn't have to think about a thing.
As an avid outdoor adventurer and former guide I give Katy and Alex a BIG round of applause and my gratitude. I look forward to more adventures with Bethel Adventure Tours!

I couldn't recommend Bethel Adventure Tours more! I'm new to the Bethel area and had heard about the Wheeler Mica Mines from one of the snowmobile clubs and really wanted to check it out in the winter when the ice formations are amazing! I reached out to Alex and had everything lined up for my odd-ball party of snowshoeing friends. The mines were incredible! Don't miss them! Alex shared lots of history and information about the mines, surrounding areas, and the wildlife. He also put up with our humor and took some amazing photos. We'll definitely be looking to book a summer kayak tour come warm weather.

Katy gave us a great personalized hike, very fun for our group. She taught us some really cool things about the local flora and fauna, made sure we were safe and comfortable, and was a lot of fun to hang out with!
