If you need a cheap place to just spend the night, you can use this place. But for traveling with children or if you like cleanliness, this hotel is not suitable. The furniture is old, in some places there are no handles on the cabinet doors, the carpet is dirty, the smell in the room is not very fresh. The staff is friendly, sociable.

The young man who was working the front desk was awesome. Dude was on it and polite. The older bald guy that worked after him was an absolute jerk. The room wasn't very clean, and neither was the bathroom, showers water pressure was awful. Water basically fell out of the sprayer. Not a terrible place but it's definitely not worth the price.

Honestly based on my interaction with the bald guy, I won't stay here again. Like everything else wasn't great but that just tipped the scale for me. The reviews are pretty accurate for this place. San Luis Obispo inn is definitely a better choice and it's about the same price.

Absolutely terrible their keys to the rooms stopped working after 1 night asked for back up keys and they never worked. No one is ever in the office so good luck checking out. Maids do not really clean my daughter 4 years old found a pill in our room the first 5 minutes of our stay

The room was quite dirty on the floor. As well as that, the plug-ins in our room didn't work appropriately, making it difficult to charge your devices. Our room also had only one nightstand, and the sheets seemed to not be appropriately clean, creating some allergy reactions. The shower door didn't work appropriately, and it is necessary to pay a deposit even on these conditions. Finally, it was difficult to check out since there was no one at the front desk, and. Nonetheless, true is it that it might be one of the cheapest options in SLO.

After having stayed a number of nights without incident, and with largely positive interactions with all staff members (save for one -- more on him in a second) -- my visit was brought to a jarring and sudden end.

Yes the hotel is a bit rundown/worn around the edges. It's a pale shadow of its former self, and actually benefits from having been originally conceived as a far nicer hotel than it has become. Expect all luxuries and extras to be closed or eliminated (pool and hot tub, continental breakfast, working luggage carts, daily towel exchange -- expect none of these). But to be fair, this is among the very cheapest hotels in town. Some rooms have balconies, many are oversized, and while there is a level of disrepair and some greater issues with cleanliness, none was insurmountable save for the truly sodden and filthy wall-to-wall in the rooms which made for a shoes-always rule.

My issue is with the manager-owner (I believe he is an African-American man in his 40s, around 5' 10" tall if memory serves -- just cannot recall his name). After upgrading my room to a larger room after several uneventful days, I get a call
To my new room. The manager/owner says I need to come to the front desk immediately. When there, he says that I have 'five minutes to exit the premises' and that he doesn't have to give a reason why. I had just re-checked in with another staff member without issue minutes earlier. I would have considered arguing, but he was visibly upset , his eyes darting this way and that, wild with rage. I figured it'd be better to let cooler heads prevail. As I went back to my room, a couple minute walk from the lobby he said, ' now you have 4 minutes'

He decided to join me as I packed and for reasons unknown argue with me over violations that were outright inventions on his part: he said I never told the front desk about my service animals (I had before I ever entered the room days earlier and had been open with his presence). When I explained I had a lawful right to have my service animal there and that his scrutiny was illegal and harassing he just kept saying 'that's not a service animal'. He then told me he would be charging me $50 from my deposit. He in fact, after denying me the room I'd already paid for and assuring me I'd get a refund for all but $50, decided to pocket the whole room price and deposit: $215. Fortunately my bank understood this to be fraud when I explained it to them, and refunded me the total value.

This guy is a cheat and a fraudster. Run, don't walk, from engaging in any business dealings with him.

Wasn’t able to get inside the hotel. I came to the hotel 30 minutes after I booked. The lobby was closed. I called the number listed on the piece of paper attached to the door ( the picture is above). The manager said that he doesn’t care about the reservation because the hotel is closed after 11pm and wasn’t willing to come to the property and give me the key for my room which was already booked by me and the transaction was approved by the hotel. He was extremely rude. After the booking the hotel sent me the email about what I should know about my stay, including requirements for ID, credit card and everything, except the information about the closing the hotel after 11pm.

Had to switch rooms 5x at check-in to finally find a decent room. Took an hour, the staff tried to help but some rooms wouldn't even open. Very poorly maintained.

Literally was refused immediately right when trying to checkin, horrible attitude displayed from front desk, three driver license in my face after getting upset that I said “ hello” when I walked in because no one was at the front desk. Cancelled on my family’s reservation. Absolutely would rather stay in my car than any hospitality service they provide
