The staff at the front desk and valet station were extremely friendly and helpful. The room was superb--walls were thick and almost sound proof. The bed and bedding were excellent. Climate control worked well on a cold night. Everything was in sound mechanical condition in the room and bathroom. Common areas were in great condition too. There was supposedly a renovation taking place on the fifth floor but the only evidence I saw of this was protective coverings on the walls of one of the elevators. Overall a really great place to stay.

Bed was pretty dirty, I went with my parents and brother. We didn’t have enough towels to shower, so I went down to ask for one and received 2 hand towels. In the shower were small curly hairs everywhere and some blood. Reminder I was the first one of our group to shower then when I took out the towel to put outside the shower it had 2 medium sized brown stains.

As usual, benefited greatly from cleanliness and extremely courteous staff. I would like to highlight Tony who ran the breakfast area. He made sure every guest had everything they needed, including honey for tea and other small comforts that make travel more enjoyable. Very nice eating area as well.

Cannot say enough good things about this hotel. Spectacularly clean, equipped, and in a prime location. The cherry on top was Tony! He was in charge of breakfast while we were there, and was the kindest, most helpful, warm person we encountered. Thank you again Tony for your hospitality-you were wonderful!!

From the moment I stepped into the building I felt welcomed and cared for. Amy was my first impression of the staff and, needless to say, she exceeded my expectations. I had expected her exuberance to be unmatched until I met Tony. He really brought it home. The staff at this location truly makes the stay. Valet was great too!

This is a nice, clean, and pleasant Hampton Inn. The staff are professional and efficient. Breakfast was basic and fine. Their location is great as it's centrally located. Our king size bed was in a larger room with an OK view. Fall leaves were just beginning to show. A good choice.

My wife and I as Hilton Honors Diamond Members admire the care shown us during our stay at Hampton Inn & Suites Portsmouth Downtown. We will definitely visit and stay again. Our stay reminded us why we continue to choose the Hilton brand whenever we travel. We will definitely take up the offer to come back to Portsmouth soon to stay with Hampton Inn & Suite in the 2025 Summer. I ask that the general manager of the property share this email with the owners and executive management of Colwen Hotels so that they are aware of the need to further compensate, promote, and acknowledge these team members to ensure their continued stay on the team. They are the hallmark standard to the hotel and travel industry.

Good downtown location walkable to main attractions, restaurants, and shops on Congress St. nice hotel. Daily continental breakfast varied and staff really attentive. Housekeeping is every 2 days, so had to put out garbage daily. The other issue were the bed sheets; they were clean but didn’t feel fresh (even when checking in). Lastly there is no self park, even though the hotel has its own parking lot in the courtyard of the hotel. You’re required to valet park (or park in a pay parking garage you have to find on your own) and the cost is $40/day. Seems like they could just open up their own lot to first come first serve and then I would understand about having to pay in a local garage. The location is the main draw for this hotel.
