Nice hotel that met all of our needs as we traveled home on a business trip. Convenient location as we were able to grab a couple groceries nearby and had we wanted could have grabbed a bite to eat. Definitely could have walked to destinations. Not a heavy traffic area. Staff was more than accommodating. Felt welcomed for sure!

Wow. There's a lot. Firstly, Brooke was so extremely helpful, as well as, her trainee, Sierra. They were aware of the technical difficulties I was having and made the process smooth and easy to understand which took a lot of the holidays pressure off of me. Also, I was so incredibly impressed by the hotels cleanliness and the dove soap in the rooms was much better than I've ever experienced with other hotel amenities options. After my first night, during breakfast I talked with another young lady, Shelbi, who made me feel so appreciated and welcome! I really felt like family in a way but in a professional manner if that makes sense. Truthfully I've worked for a hotel before and these ladies went above and beyond to make this experience a blessed one for my family and I. Brooke brought me clean pillows and blankets and was just so caring and sweet. I'll always choose Holiday Inn Express for my travel stays from now on! Thank you so so much! Truly, the best Thanksgiving I've ever had.

When I choose my hotels, I base almost my whole choice off the amenities available. This particular stay was one for the books in all the wrong ways each step of the way as we tried utilizing the reasons we picked here. First, we had a 7 year old with us who was beyond excited to go swimming so we were sure to pick here due to the indoor heated pool which was out the last time we stayed here and told it was being repaired. Unfortunately that wasn’t true.. here we are a few weeks later and the pool infact was NOT working still— it was an ice bath that our daughter couldn’t use and it was a true bummer. That alone would have swayed us to want to pick somewhere else. Then we thought, “ we can have her at least spend some time in the hot tub”… that was out of commission as well!!! Which my boyfriend and I were so excited to relax in. The following morning, we come down for breakfast and the single food I eat from their breakfast everytime I stay, we are told that’s not working either!!! The pancake maker. Back to the room we go to order DoorDash breakfast and THEN—- the topper on the cake… my 7 year old and I got stuck in the elevator which had an expired inspection certificate on the wall! She absolutely freaked out until it came open roughly 6 minutes after it wouldn’t move. I use this hotel often as I’m a IHG member and I will be moving to the area, but just not yet so this is where I continue to try to stay but with everything that took place— and it was also during a snow storm so I had to extend my stay—- I ended up packing up and moving to another local hotel and all their amenities were up and running. I suppose I’m shocked the price of the stay here was still what it was even though the majority of their sale pitch that comes bulked in the price, wasn’t available to enjoy. I don’t know if I will stay again, I guess it depends on the response I get or what they choose to do, if anything, to make this right.

We Had a great stay at Holiday Inn Express! The room was clean and comfortable, with everything I needed. Breakfast was included and the staff were friendly and helpful. I'd definitely recommend it for anyone looking for a convenient and affordable place to stay.

Stayed two nights at the Mattoon HIE. First off, the hotel room furnishings were outdated and there was not even a lamp/light for the desk area in the room. I had to move furniture to be able to see and use the desk area. To add to the disappointment in the room, the TV was extremely small and not a "SMART TV" unable to sign into any applications or stream from phone to TV. Moving on to the fitness center. There is a TV in there also however, if you are on a machine, treadmill, elliptical, etc., you cannot see the TV due to orientation. Once finished with my workout I attempted to get water from the dispenser in the fitness center and it was empty. I went to the desk and informed them that the water was empty. I was told that they would let someone know and, I could buy water from the vending machine. My next experience was breakfast. The bananas were all brown on day 1 and the same were out on day 2. I threw two outdated yogurt cups away before getting one that hadn't expired. I have learned over the years not to expect much from hotels but usually IHG properties are good. This location was clean, but that is all I can say positive about it. One thing for sure, it did not meet what I would consider to be IHG standards.

This IHG hotel was older but impeccably clean, inside & out.

But I could not shower the next morning as after running the water for several minutes, a very strong odor that smelled like algae was present. I ran the sink faucet and discovered that faucet also smelled like algae. I've kept fish tanks for years and know algae smell when present. Needless to say, I could not take a shower. When I informed the front desk clerk Brooke of the problem, she initially told me she'd have cleaning staff check it out. I said the bathroom is spotless and the smell is coming from the water. Then she stated, "Mattoon has bad water.".

I was disappointed in her response.

Customer service was top notch. My room was clean and comvient providing all necessary amenities without clutter. Lights were a bit tricky as I'm spoiled liking those with a switch. The pool and whirlpool were an added bonus for me. I did not need those, however, took advantage. Like my room, the pool was clean, safe, and comfortable.

Perfect placement for a hotel right off the highway with a variety of restaurants and shopping close by. Clean, service was terrific, pool/ hot tub & hot breakfast every morning. Only opportunity is the rooms being dated, however they were clean and the bed was comfy.
