One the most welcoming places to temporarily call home. This has been my second and longest stay here in the past month, and look forward to doing so again. All of the staff have been pleasant and conversant, but a special shout out to Lashay and Niyohnna who given exceptionally friendly service and made me feel like I was walking in the front of my own home each time! The location is very good with plenty of dining options and the chance to safely stroll around the area. Breakfasts were always hot and fresh, and the area clean. The rooms are well appointed and maintained. If you travel for business and are looking for a place to comfortably roost while in the Carbondale area, look no further than here.

While the room is what you need service can make or break the stay. I stay in a multitude of hotels across 7.5 states and have never heard of or been presented with such a poor offering from the hotel staff and on shift manager. I understand policy can be created for reasons like necessity, but as a paying customer who stayed at the hotel the previous night, to then been told that after checkout I was no longer a customer is poor management. I fix and repair equipment in hospitals and sometimes have to work late into the night to repair or perform annual maintenance on equipment that isn’t available during normal buisness hours and sometimes I have to order and await parts deliveries to finish the job. In this case I worked late, had to order parts for overnight delivery, and got stuck awaiting those parts the next day. The area had a bad winter storm and for the safety of FedEx drivers my parts were delayed. The hotel rep was aware of my situation as I had informed them I would be awaiting some items from FedEx prior to checkout and that the deliver was delayed. With routine checkins throughout the day and with nothing left at the hospital to do I left and attempted to wait at the hotel around 230pm. I asked as a courtesy if working on my laptop in the lobby would be ok, to be informed that it was not okay, with no explanation other than I was no longer a paying customer. Even after just having had a conversation with the rep about staying another night. After asking and getting to speak to a manager, the manager approved of what the rep had stated and then informed me that they would make an exception with the annotation that I was not a customer. With that statement she became correct and I will no longer or ever be a customer for this hotel again. I stay in the area a minimum of four times a year and stayed at this location every time because it was clean and close to the hospital. No longer, I will, however, from this point forward make the drive to Marion, which apparently is safer, cleaner, has more shopping, better and more diverse restaurants and possibly better customer service. This hotel has restrictions to entry, implying that it is in an unsafe neighborhood, which makes their poor parking situation, due to its downtown location, even more problem-some as they clearly state everywhere that they are not responsible for thefts from your car, again implying it is in a bad neighborhood. Let’s add consistent poor attitudes from their customer service desk, along with a manger who fails at customer relations and I guess there is enough reasons to note that maybe this is not the spot for you either. Be warned catch staff on a bad day and you could also have a bad day. I have added other details in the more details section.

I had a wonderful stay at Home2 Suites By Hilton in Carbondale, IL. The hotel was very clean, and the rooms were spotless and comfortable. The staff were incredibly friendly, kind, and attentive to every guest. The breakfast team was helpful and always ready to assist anyone who needed it. The receptionists were especially patient and kind, taking the time to explain everything thoroughly. It’s also conveniently located, with the nearest grocery store just a 5-minute drive or a 15-minute walk away. Overall, a great experience, and I highly recommend staying here!

The two people at the front desk left me standing outside the door as they engaged in a conversation. When they did acknowledge me waiting and let me in, I was barely greeted and there was no acknowledgment of the wait time. Additionally, the lady was rude when I asked to check-in. It’s not like there many hotel options and the customer service reflects that they know people are stuck staying with them.

Absolutely the most unpleasant and unprofessional experience. One woman lied to our faces and tried to collect money for a pre-paid reservation, despite a written receipt, and lied about it when confronted.
Also, while not disclosed on the website, there is an Amtrack that passes right next to the hotel hourly—all night long, 7 days a week—sounding it's horn loud enough to vibrate the walls. Pretty much a guarantee you won't get any sleep.
Incidentally, I am responsible for arranging student travel to national competitions for our University, and will be making sure to discourage use of all Hilton properties moving forward.
Whether you are traveling for work or leisure, look elsewhere.

Our stay was pleasant. The room was clean and quiet. Breakfast choices were sufficient that we did not feel then need to go elsewhere. Staff was friendly and check-in/out was quick. The only negative is the lack of parking. The lot seems small for the hotel’s capacity. It includes both regular and parallel parking.

Aside from being less than a block from a fairly busy set of railroad tracks, and the resulting noise at all hours, it's a really nice place.
